Itunes Movie File Playback

Hi. I am trying to get Plex to play an ITunes Movie file that i have purchased, what happens is Plex recognizes the file and loads all the metadata for the movie but when i go to play it an error message pops up and says “playback error file contains DRM”. I haven’t had this message come up with any other file so im guessing plex doesn’t yet support Itunes files. its a .m4v file. I am also on a mac if that makes any difference. Any feedback is appreciated. Could just be apple is trying to block plex.

Apple DRM is on this file. Plex cannot play any file with any type of DRM on it.

so in other words apple has some type of copy protection on it? that sucks. guess its a way for them to force people to use iTunes. In my opinion since i bought the movie i should be able to play it using any program that supports the format. lol. oh well.

You bought a license to play that file in a manner which Apple dictates. If you read the terms of service, it pretty much sucks. You don’t own anything, and should worse come to worse, they can even terminate your license. DRM is the devil.
