Few days ago my 55 inch tv’s been stolen from home with Plex app on it. My question is can i keep track of my TV when it connects to the internet? thanks
If the perp is really so stupid to fire up Plex on the stolen TV, you can find out his IP address.
Activate debug logging on your Plex server (don’t activate ‘Verbose’, though)
Let Plex server run 24/7, so when a connection attempt is made by the TV, it will actually succeed and leave a trail in your log files.
If you use your server heavily, you may want to install PlexPy, which gives you a better view of all Plex activity. PlexPy will also continue to store the access and the IP, when the Plex Server logfile entry has been ‘rotated’ away.
(Log file “rotation”: Plex server only stores 6 logfiles, which only contain a limited number of lines. If your server is heavily used, the time frame covered by all logs is not very long, so the record of the connection attempt may be lost after a few hours).
