Jeopardy! not scraping correctly

Ever since new Jeopardy! episodes started airing in September, Plex has been unable to properly scrape the data, particularly when they are named via the date they aired and using TheTVDB (Year) for episode ordering. The files are named as, “Jeopardy.2025.09.10” within a folder named “Jeopardy! (1984).”

When changing the library agent to TheTVDB, the majority of episodes scrape properly, leading me to believe it is an issue with the Plex Series agent. I’ve tried the Plex dance and reinstalling the latest update, but no change. These file names have never been an issue in the past. Please let me know if there is something I am missing or this is an internal error. Thank you.

EDIT: To be more specific, Plex has, in the past, scraped episodes pursuant to TheTVDB’s episode titles. For example, “Jeopardy.2025.09.10” would be scraped to “Ian Morrison, Paolo Pasco, Leslie Oakerson” along with the appropriate date of airing. Now, “Jeopardy.2025.09.10” just scrapes to “Episode 09-09”

Jeopardy has season and episode numbers, rename the files properly and they’ll scrape (they do on mine).

Is there any explanation as to why it worked fine with the dates in the past, and now it doesn’t?

@MegaFlix-Redux

Jeopardy is a Season/Episode naming structure series.

The old scanner would accept both (cross convert)
The new scanner does as well only when the files are named correctly.

Please see the correct naming format here:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

A media renaming (TinyMediaManager, FileBot, etc) can easily correct this for you.

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunate that the new scanner didn’t adopt the ability to leave the dates on the filename, being that the number of episodes each year are so numerous, but the explanation is acceptable. Cheers.

Did you not see the section of the support page I showed ?

Dates are indeed still accepted.

The removal of the old Python scanner is all that changed

You must comply with the naming rule

“Jeopardy.2025.09.10”

will not work anymore.

You need Jeopardy - 2025.09.10 (delineate name from date)

When you said Jeopardy was a Season/Episode naming structure series, I indeed assumed incorrectly that that date format was not possible. Thank you for the clarification. However…

After doing some testing with the “Jeopardy - YYYY-MM-DD” format, I found Plex would not scrape correctly if I added/scanned more than 3 episodes at a time. With this in mind, I went back and tested the “Jeopardy.YYYY.MM.DD” format under the same limitations. I found that the “Jeopardy.YYYY.MM.DD” format does indeed still scrape correctly via TheTVDB (Year) episode ordering, but only if I add/scan 3 episodes at a time. Adding in an entire month of episodes seems to have overloaded Plex or something.

TL;DR, the old “Jeopardy.YYYY.MM.DD” naming format still works, you just can’t add too many episodes at once. I had the best luck adding/scanning 3 at a time.
