However, my OSX box is currently preoccupied (not working) and I know little to nothing about AFP.
Is there another option I could use to upload to you from my Linux box (which is where the
dvd files are anyway)?
These files are almost 8GB and our ISP limits us to 1GB per day. When that is reached we
are throttled to a very low speed. So I would have to send you say, 500MB per day which
would take almost 16 days.
If it crashes right away, I just need the first 50-100MB of the file. I’m not aware of any way other than AFP to upload samples, hopefully Isaac can comment on this.
Elan, there have been many instanced of DVD decrypter rips crashes plex in the last couple weeks. In many cases, using MTR to rip the same movie will work in Plex.
I have created a VIDEO_TS file which is about 500MB and which exhibits the problem.
It does not crash all of Plex, but only the player portion. That is:
. Play the file.
. Traverse the menus to play the movie (i.e., Part 1) (e.g., press enter three times)
. The movie will start and in a few seconds, the movie stops, it exits the player and returns to Plex.
Now if I can figure out a way to upload it to you...
Instructions for using AFP protocol or an alternative is all I need to upload it to you.
Elan, I finally managed to get the John Adams sample uploaded. It is in the Dropbox directory
and it is called JohnAdams1.tgz. It is compressed tar format.
Upscaling says "Bicubic". In the "System Configuration/Video" menu where I found it, it is dimmed out (not selectable)
but is says Bicubic...
It was ripped with RipIt4Me/DVDDecrypter (on Windows) RipIt4Me also calls some DVD cleanup pass after
DVDDecrypter (I forget what it is called but can look it up if you need to know).
95% of my other dvds are ripped as above and all play without a problem (except these). By "these" I mean
all three discs in this series fail in the same way.
Were you able to reproduce the thread crash from the sample?
Correct! I apologize for calling it a crash. I actually remembered it incorrectly when I first posted, I
erroneously recalled that it crashed plex (I do know the difference), but when I went to reproduce it,
I saw it was simply aborting the player. I stated it more clearly in my subsequent post (post #8).
Would it be correct to say it crashed one of the plex threads?
