Just come back To Plex - 2 issues with Live TV - Narrated audio & slow channel changes

Morning,

I have just re-installed Plex server & apps for Fire TV. I left Plex a few months ago as i kept running into constant problems weith the DVR service. I decided to have another look into Plex a couple of nights ago to see whats been going on / updated.

Anyway, setup all my Live TV, everything works ok i just have 2 niggles.

  1. Despite how i setup the audio settings in the server dashboard I keep getting narrated audio. The audio stream highlighted in Fire TV app when trying to play a TV channel is showing as correct, however i have to switch back to “nar” then back to stop the narration?

  2. Im using SAT>IP for my tuners. Im having slow channel changes. Approx 7 - 8 seconds for SD and maybe up to 15 seconds for HD. Ive had a play about with settings and cant seem to improve things. Ive also deleted the DVR and setup a HDHR tuner to see what happens, still slow channel changes.

Any advice would be appreciated. I dont want to have to spend too long on this… if im having to spend hours trying to get my setup working & reliable then unfortunately i will have to maybe consider going back to other DVR software.

1, audio track selection is broken on android tv too. works fine on iOS and the web client. It’s been like this for months, so dont expect quick fix.

2, when you tune the channel - check if video is getting transcoded (go to dashboard of your server to see). If it is, then the best you can expect is about ~10 seconds for HD (this is tested on wired 1Gbit and 8 core CPU). If it’s not - then best you can hope for with Plex is about 5-6 seconds.
