Just one MKV that plays on my desktop via media player refuses to be picked up by Plex server?

I have many MKV files still working and this one for some reason will not get picked up as a new title. yes i have run through the purging/database/index steps and still nothing.

this happens to be the largest MKV that i have at 3.8gig but cant see that being the issue here.

any ideas i can try to get it working?

How is it named? If it’s not named in a way that the Plex scanner can pick it up that may cause issues: Naming Movie Files

hey Adam, yeah my collection has over a 1000 movies now and i am 100% on top of naming them correctly. strange that my local windows 10 can play that movie without issue (normally my test before dropping it into plex).

So it doesn’t play? Or it doesn’t show up in the library? You need to be a bit more clear. If it’s not showing in your library (which is what your original post made it sound like), whether it plays outside of Plex seems to be irrelevant. Am I incorrect?

If you are having issues playing the file, logs will be necessary to try to determine what is happening.

Please see this article: Reporting issues with Plex Media Server

We need info. Now showing in lib or not playing?

If it’s not showing in the lib it might have gotten picked up but is a “dupe” of another movie in the Plex library. Try running the dupe feature in that library and using the INFO so you can see file names. If you have dupes you can take this opportunity to sort them out and remove the dupes as well.

Not showing in Plex therefore not playing in plex as its not there. the only reason i mentioned it playing on my desktop is that the MKV is in tack and working as expected in a standard media player.

How do i find this “INFO” against my library? thats sounds like a promising thing to know how to use!

I will look for logs now
