I just purchased an HDHomeRun Prime. I installed my Verizon cable card into it and then I created a Plex account and purchased a Plex Pass. I created a Plex Media Server on my computer and installed the Plex App (3.2.2) on two 4k Samsung 2017 models (Tizen 3.0). I then followed the instructions to install live TV and DVR by going to Settings -> Server -> Live TV & DVR -> Add Device, continued to follow directions and got the HDHomeRun Prime added to my Plex account. After that I went to Users and changed restrictions to allow access to Live TV. However, when i open the Plex App in the TV’s, the TV’s do not show a program guide on the left hand side to access Live TV, it only shows “Music” and “Photos”. Please help, it would be much appreciated.
Not all clients support yet live tv.
See section (Which apps let me watch “Live TV”?)

The tizen doesn’t appear in the list.
Sorry for the bad news.
So if I purchased a roku and attached it to the tv and used the Plex app through the Roku, it would work that way?
Yes but while I am no Roku expert, its likely that it will work better on higher-end Roku models.
Likewise for FireTV. I have a FireTV (4K) box and a FireTV stick. The FireTV (4K) box is just a better performer.
BTW, I am in the same boat you are in. I have Two LG 4K Smart TV’s that have Plex app support but they haven’t been updated to support Plex DVR / Live TV. I also don’t expect such support any time soon if ever.
Thank you for your help guys, gave me some good insight. I really appreciate it. Hopefully the update the smart tv apps, it’ll save us more money from having to buy devices which do the exact same thing the smart tv does.
I would say if you get anything, get the ShieldTV. I tried FireStick, Roku (the high end one), LG SmartTV and Plex Media Player and the Shield is the most stable, with the most amount of features.
I concur.
I haven’t tested the nVidia Shield yet but it is the one I would choose over all others if given the chance. The problem there though is that it is one of the most expensive options.
