I’d really like a way to integrate my library into Justwatch. I usually think of a movie I want to see, and go to justwatch, and when I dont find it there, go to plex. It would be great if my library would show in Justwatch, just as all the others, so I can see it directly there.
In an ideal world, of course, it would be the other way around, going into plex and searching fro a movie and getting an answer from Justwatch that its also available on HBO Go, but I dont suppose theyll be giving out that info on their own.
Not sure if you know of Trakt but this is what I use to track my watching. You just have to install the Plex trakt scrobbler, link to your trakt account and you’re good to go. Will show what you are watching as you watch it too.
I think Plex is capable off integrating JustWatch features into Plex. If you can integrate all those streaming add-ons, then why not an API that is basically a web scraper that gathers the same information that JustWatch does.
I use the free version of [JustWatch to find new content] and it’s great!
And, yes, I’d like to be able to search (not stream) from within Plex so I can see if I have the movie or not and where I can stream it from.
In JustWatch, when I click on a streaming provider - such as Netflix or Prime, it will take me directly to that movie on that providers website.
What would make Plex even more valuable, would be to integrate our login capabilities so that when we click on the link, it opens the site and logs us in. This might be easier on a mobile platform considering we are ALWAYS logged in to the mobile apps, versus a website.
However, another caveat might be we need to ensure our browser saves our login credentials, and when we go to the site, we need just click login and it’s a go…
If you set your region to U.S. in the Just Watch app Plex is a listed provider. The problem is that it’s just for their own streaming content.
I suspect, similarly to the Apple TV app integration on the ATV, that Plex can’t integrate our libraries into a feature like this because Plex doesn’t know what you have in your library.
It’s been a big deal for users (for obvious reasons) that Plex not be able to have any record of users library content. Plex would need to know this to be able to push that info to Just Watch or the Apple TV app. Plex can push that info for its streaming offering but it doesn’t have that info for local libraries.
Syncing your library (through the legacy plugin) to a service like Trakt could get you a similar setup, just not with Just Watch.
