There are currently keyboard shortcuts, from within a video’s individual profile, for Edit Metadata and Get Info. Related to these functions is a keyboard shortcut for Refresh Metadata.
Many Plex users limit our Refresh Metadata scrapes, in order to save CPU usage, API hits, etc. When viewing multiple, individual movies, that makes the Refresh Metadata function become a repeated necessity.
Instead of drilling down on the ellipsis icon and then mousing over to Refresh Metadata, I recommend a keyboard shortcut for an individual video screens. “D” (for data) is my recommended keyboard shortcut for Refresh Metadata.
Most times, I see a dramatic shift in a movies rating when refreshing metadata, so it’s a valuable function. Making sure that Plex has the most recent metadata becomes especially valuable to re-run on a movie prior to watching or adding to a list.
Even if the user is scraping metadata often, the selected video’s or other timely metadata could be lagging behind its currently-available external metadata. This keyboard shortcut’s Refresh Data function can then update everything for that individual movie’s profile.
Yes, multiple movies and whole libraries can be selected to Refresh Metadata, which take extra time, when compared to an individual movie Refresh. A quick Refresh Metadata run takes little time, except for it’s current cursor-selected method. That is the reason for the keyboard shortcut request.
