Landscape unlock just locks to portrait

Server Version#: 1.42.5.9522

When you uncheck the lock to landscape option I would expect that I could rotate the phone and have the view switch between portrait or landscape depending on the orientation.

But it just gets locked into portrait mode.

If i remember correctly, the ui only supports portrait. The lock is only for the video player.

Oh I wasn’t clear, thanks for pointing that out. I am talking about the movie player. While playing a movie if landscape lock is unchecked it won’t leave portrait.

Additionally while watching TV shows as it switches to the next episode the screen flips upside down and I have to flip the phone over and back again to right it.

It’s wacky stuff.

That is wacky. Does it make a difference if the phone is on its left or right side?

Good question. I can’t seem to reproduce by just starting an episode fast forwarding to the end and letting the next episode start, but it was driving me crazy last night while organically watching and last night it was on it’s left side. (charging port to the right)

I have the same problem and it is very frustrating. Why do we even need this “lock to landscape” option?? Control Center has had a widget to lock the current orientation for a very long time and it’s faster to activate.

Unrelated but equally frustrating, I can’t swipe down on the video and browse my library while the video keeps playing.

Adding to this, if you uncheck lock to landscape, the setting does not persist and playing another movie or even stopping and restarting the same movie locks you back to landscape.

I have this same problem.
When landscape lock is turned off, the video is locked in portrait mode. Doesn’t matter which side I try to rotate to. And I’ve definitely got the iOS rotation lock turned off in control center.

Did you ever find a fix for this?

The latest beta (2025.13.0) does remember the setting but it still exhibits the behavior of being landscape locked or portrait locked when unchecked.

So it’s improved but still not done.

Latest beta 2025.15. (1045) fixes this issue.
