Server Version#: Version 1.23.5.4841
Player Version#: Plex web Version 4.59.2
After updating the PMS server last night I noticed that the stated fix for displaying Recently Added Other Videos now works, but it also duplicated my Recently Added TV row on the Home Screen. I’ve tried everything to get rid of the 2nd row, but it will not go away. It is an exact duplicate row. Very frustrating, but maybe I’m missing a hidden step somewhere. This previous PMS version worked fine.
By default you should see the “Recently Added” hub of each individual library that’s pinned to your main navigation. You can configure your server to group those hubs (Merge recently added items)
I’ve done all that the first time around when a PMS update changed all that back a few months. I use the Merge Recently Added. Even though I have 7 TV Libraries they are all merged into the one row of Recently Added. But now I have 2 rows of Recently Added TV that have the exact same content.
Recently Added Movies and Recently Added Music are fine. It got broken I think when the fix went in to now display Recently Added Other Videos as well as Recently Added TV b/c Other Videos were not displaying if both TV and Other Videos were selected to display. The Recently Added Other Videos now displays correctly as well as Movies and Music.
Is it only in the web app or all apps?
Try going to debug setting of web app and hit the restore defaults button (it won’t reset server setting only web app settings)
Checked the iOS Plex app and it also shows the duplicate Recently Added TV rows. A couple more clues:
- I unchecked the Merge All… and of course it did what it was supposed to do and display all libraries that had recently added items, but there were no duplicate rows in that display. I then checked it back and I was back to the 2 duplicate Recently Added TV rows.
- On the iOS app one of the Recently Added TV rows has ‘(Disney TV)’ after the Recently Added TV text header and the duplicate row has ‘(Home Movies)’ after it’s text. What is interesting is that they are the first 2 TV Libraries in my pinned list while the other 5 TV libraries are scattered alphabetically after those 2. I keep my pinned list in alphabetical order by library name.
- I have checked all my TV libraries and all have the same settings in both the PMS server settings, Libraries and also under the Manage / Edit / Advanced context menu of each TV library in the pinned list.
I have the exact same problem
I have 2 TV libraries combined but recently added is duplicated with the exact same content
I have 2 Movie libraries combined but recently added is not duplicated for Movies
Server 1.23.5.4862
Plex Web 4.59.2
Mine was fixed by having the Merge Recently Added items set prior to resetting customizations.
I initially tried the reset first but did not realize that the update had also unchecked Merge Recently Added items.
On a side note why is it not possible to just delete things from the home screen anymore?
Just because you have something pinned to the sidebar (from another server) doesn’t mean you want it to be part of your home screen.
Well I take that back as soon as I reordered the pinned items in my sidebar the duplicate recently added TV came back.
After playing with this for a while longer it seemed it only happened if I had TV as my first pinned item. After looking at the items I had pinned one of them was not being displayed on the home screen. I checked how that library was setup and on the Advanced tab of the edit screen Visibility was set to Include in home screen and global search, I changed it to Exclude from home screen and the duplicate recently added TV disappeared.
In my sidebar I have a few Movie libraries before my first TV library and after the TV library there are a couple more Movie libraries before my 2nd TV library. Getting rid of the duplicate Recently Added TV row by excluding a library from the home screen doesn’t seem like a good way to ‘fix’ the problem though, at least not for me. I want all of them to show in the home screen. This is truly a bug in the last update. Duplicate Recently Added TV rows show in PMS (Windows), iOS players and in the Firestick. I believe its a global issue.
PMS: Version 1.23.5.4862
Plex Web: Version 4.59.2
I set my 2 TV Libraries to Exclude from home screen and both Recently Added rows disappeared from the Home screen. I then went to the Libraries settings and enabled Recently Added on Home for both libraries. One RA row is showing as it should be but…
If I look at Libaries settings now both TV libraries have RA Home unselected. One RA row is still showing on the Home screen though.
Part 2
One RA row is showing on Plex Web but none were showing in the iOS client, didn’t check others. I enabled Include in home screen and global search to get it back the way is was.
There is definately an issue.
Agreed there is definitely an issue.
As I explained in my previous post One of my libraries that was configured to show recently add didn’t show up on my home screen. That same library was configured to not show on the home screen prior to the upgrade but when I checked the setting after the upgrade it was set to show on the home screen(even though it didn’t).
I then changed that library to do what it was already doing to not show on the home screen and the duplicate recently added TV went away. That is obviously not a fix but it does show that there is some problem with Plex honoring the setting for what should be shown on the home screen and is probably what is causing the mayhem with recently add TV.
Just another reason I don’t update Plex often it always seems to break something that was already working fine. With my previous version there was nothing really causing any major issues and the only reason I upgraded to this version was because it was supposed to have better matching which was about the only thing I could fault in the previous version (1.20.1.3252) I had.
From what I can tell so far the matching really hasn’t improved I just added a new series today that wasn’t properly matched. The same series was properly matched with 2 other media apps I use.
GOOD NEWS! The latest PMS update to 1.23.6.4881 fixed the duplicate rows issue. You may to go to Settings / Manage / Libraries and un-tick the Merge box and then tick it back again to remove the duplicate row, but it worked for me.
It doesn’t completely fix the issue.
I have 3 TV libraries. If I set all 3 to show on the home screen then Merge Recently Added, I get 2 rows of RA but the rows are different.
Row is as it should be. All items are from TV libraries 1 and 2.
Row 2 has the first 11 items from TV library 3 then continues on with items from TV libraries 1 and 2.
The first 11 items are much older than anything in the other 2 libraries.
Do the two copies of the hub sync up, after you “scan library files” or simply edit the properties of one of the involved libraries?
Yes, they synced after scanning TV library 1.
All items shown are now from TV libraries 1 and 2. None from 3.
I still have two RA rows unless I remove RA Home from library 3.
Well, I lied. I now have the same issue as Dan_Bev. 2 rows of recently added TV, but different content in each row. I closed the PMS web screen on Windows and fired it up after a while and I had the duplicated rows again as before the server update. I did my uncheck / check of the merge and now I have 2 rows of non-duplicated. Will try scanning all the TV libraries I have (7) and see what happens.
EDIT
After scanning all TV libraries I got the 2 duplicate rows back. Funny thing, though, I went back in to settings / manage / libraries and looked at all the TV libraries to make sure I had them all alike and made no changes. Went back to Home screen and duplicate rows were gone, but it went back to 2 Recently Added TV rows with different content. Row 1 had stuff from 6 of my 7 libraries and the 2nd row only had stuff from one TV library which, btw, is from my 2nd TV library in my pinned list.
Ok, I have fixed the duplicate / 2 row problem. Make sure that all the TV libraries are using either the Plex Series Scanner or Plex TV Scanner. The agent doesn’t seem to matter. It sounds like I’m grasping at straws, but it did work for me.
Click the 3 dots next to the library name in the pinned list. You may see Upgrade Matching as the top option or not. Don’t have to change that. Click the Edit option which will either be at top or under the Upgrade Matching option. Once in the Edit window click Advanced and look at the Scanner option. I’m using the Plex Series Scanner for all the TV libraries. I have my Home Movies as a TV library so I’m using the Personal Media Shows as the agent while all my other TV libraries use The TVDB agent. On a side note I have the Upgrade Matching in all my context menus for the TV libraries except the Home Movies library. Doesn’t seen to matter if you upgrade or not as to the duplicate row issue.
I really wish Plex would combine all library settings under one roof as opposed to doing some via a context menu in the pinned list and some in the server settings. I think things get gimped up when we users have to go back and forth to make things happen to our liking.
I’ll try that.
An issue that I’ve seen throughout this process is; in the Library > Advanced settings, if you set Visibility to a setting that excludes the library from the Home screen the Manage > Libraries settings should reflect that. Currently it does not.
If I set a library to Exclude from home screen I can go to Manage > Libraries and enable Recently Added for the Home screen for that library. The setting doesn’t stick but it shouldn’t be available for use to begin with.
