Since updating, i can’t login or claim server on 2 separate installations on two different machines. One of the machines is a dedicated HTPC which was where the problem happened first through updating - i then delibberately upgraded the version on my other machine and as soon as the update was finished - no ability to sign in, just gets in the endless loop of sign in, load dashboard, signed out, claim server, sign in etc and returns:
“Internal Server Error. Something went wrong on our end”
Have tried nearly everything i can find over the last day on here, reddit and so on and nothing’s made a difference - , so am now rolling back the HTPC via time machine in the hope that fixes it - seeing as the error lines up perfectly with the update i’m expecting it to.
On the same network i’ve had no problem logging into the plex.tv using these machines, or using my phone, tablet etc, so i don’t believe it’s a sudden network issue or that the router is blocking anything as it hasn’t been updated in 2 weeks plus automatic updating is switched off
Does anyone have any ideas? Having to role back and then hold off updated plex in case it breaks isn’t ideal. I did notice that after the update the .plist file looked pretty scrambled. Also checked the server logs and whilst i saw quite a few ‘had to wait a few seconds’ i didn’t see anything that seemed to suggest it was struggling to reach the server. In fact i wasn’t seeing much of anything that suggested an error at all curiously
How recently did the issue start for you? I noticed a couple of days ago that my ‘Plex For Mac’ App was appearing in offline mode, and then yesterday that my TV also was. it was working correctly whilst stating it was unclaimed - i then logged out and tried signing back in and that’s when this loop started. I just tried running a claimit script some one linked on my second machine and no success.
My HTPC is still reverting, i’ll update on whether or not that works. There seems to be something really wrong with the most recent update
Happened to me Wednesday, been off ever since. I had a BIOS update fail, but I recovered from that and after restarts, Plex just stopped working. Seems largely coincidental since everything else on the HTPC works as expected.
I thought it was the 1.17 update so I rolled back to 1.15, no help. 1.18 no help.
right, the revert has finished - and the problem’s still there - my entire computer just went back a month (to 1.16.6.1592) and it fixed nothing. It works less than it a week ago. This makes no sense other than it’s an authentication or account issue
this has to got to be an issue at plex’s end. I saw suggestion in another thread that it’s actually something that’s happened to some user accounts, as if they’ve got corrupted
To add, as a try everything solution, i’ve just completely reset my router - the same one i’ve been using for years, and that’s had zero effect as well. I’m literally out of ideas here
As you will notice in my thread, I am able to successfully login only when using my wife’s credentials. Every time I try to login using my Plex Pass credentials, I get Internal Server Error.
How many of the affected users are using Tidal integration?
I ask because I only started running into problem the other day when I tried to listen to some stuff on Tidal (which I haven’t done for months). Plex froze up and nothing worked properly after that.
thanks for your input, was keeping an eye on your thread
whilst i’m not actively using tidal, a few months ago i did have it connected to plex, so there has been a link there at some point for what it’s worth
Edit: As an interesting aside - the plex.tv webite doesn’t even work properly on my HTPC - there’s no text on screen at all if use safari, the downloads page never resolves, and so on. I’ve not been able to access my local PMS via safari for about a year either - it just gets stuck on the logo splash screen. Very strange behaviour
