Internal Server Error. Something went wrong on our end

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2041-3d469cb32
Player Version#: N/A

I cannot log in to my server via plex.tv, I keep getting the above error. I could log in via local IP Address, all my users have gone missing apart from me, but when I log in my ON DECK, TIDAL PLAYLISTS , and RECOMMENDED all show “Unavailable”. My network and internet connection are fine.

The server log file shows many lines like this:

which to me look like Cloudflare errors.

I’m not sure what I can do to actually log in and get this working again. Any ideas?

Thanks team!
James.

PS Not sure if relevant, but my web browser keeps trying to reach

even though my plex server is NOT on this laptop, it’s on another machine (so obviously this call keeps failing)

Could you provide the full logs?

Sorry I should have done this already!

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-21_18-30-39.zip (755.7 KB)

server logs 3/4/5 show the XML error, since then I’ve signed out of Plex on my local server and tried to sign back in (but gets stuck in a loop). I think that’s why the more recent server logs don’t have the XML error in them.
But yeah, I can’t sign into the server at all now…
Thanks for checking this for me

Could you also please disable Verbose Logging (Settings -> General (make sure Show Advanced is selected). Then restart your server and wait a few minutes, then gather the logs again.

You should never need verbose logging enabled unless specifically asked by a Plex employee to enable it for a specific troubleshooting purpose.

OK I disabled verbose logging, restarted the server, and tried multiple times to “claim” the server, log in, view the dashboard etc. I still cannot log in.

Attached are the new logs and screenshot of the dashboard. It kinda looks like there’s something up with the network, but everything does seem to be working as normal (with the network, and inbound firewall / port forward etc) so I’m at a complete loss…

Everything was working perfectly well yesterday, and today it’s just all gone weird. I then upgraded to the latest version thinking that might help but it’s no better.

Thanks
James.

Hi,

Same issue here, unable to logon …
Same logfile messages too …

I am also a TIDAL subscriber.

please help…

Hmm so maybe a Tidal issue again.

Does anyone know how to disengage Tidal so I can see if this helps? The steps published refer to being correctly logged in and then going to the Tidal section and removing it. But if I cannot log in in the first place then this isn’t an option. Is my Tidal subscription linked to Plex via the Plex cloud? Or can I remove it locally so I can try to get my server working again?

I haven’t been able to use Plex in a few days now, and have movie night booked in with my mates for my rooftop cinema tomorrow! Any thoughts, anyone?

I have removed and re-installed plex on my server, and I still cannot simply sign in to claim the new server. All of my old libraries are also still showing.

How can I totally delete plex and start over? As I’ve had no suggestions from the plex team to troubleshoot this issue I currently cannot use it at all.

Happy to start a fresh but don’t really want to re-install CentOS…

sudo yum remove plexmediaserver
sudo userdel plex
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/plexmediaserver

Be certain to sign out of Plex/Web (your browser) before starting in

OK thanks, and if after doing that and re-installing the latest plex .rpm, I get stuck in the same loop after going to http://plexip:32400/web/ and clicking on Finish Setup. It then asks me to sign in and then the browser just loops through “Internal Error” followed by the same broken dashboard page (ie Tidal and On Deck just show ‘UNREACHABLE’) then the screen goes blank and just repeats…

I’m feeling there’s something wrong with my account? How can I check? Can I disable Tidal for now?

So I created a brand new (free) plex account to see if this would fix my issue, and voila! Everything is working as expected.
Now I need to work out how to get my original lifetime plexpass account to work, but at least I know all of these issues I’ve been having must be account-related.

Anyone at Plex able to fix this for me?

Thanks

So I finally fixed this.

I went to https://plex.tv/users/other-services, signed in with my broken account, de-linked and then deleted my Tidal subscription.

I then re-installed the server and this time logging in with my plexpass account is all good.

So, I can confirm that my particular “Internal Server Error” issues and inability to sign in or claim my server were due to my Tidal subscription.

Hope this helps someone else not waste days like I’ve done trying to work this out.
James.

I CAN CONFIRM THIS WAS TIDAL!!! 5 Days later!

Can everyone help me summarize what the root problem is?

Did this happen when the main account became inaccessible or did the addition of Tidal cause the server to become inaccessible (500) ?

OMG!!! Thank you so much!!! I have been pulling my hair out. I have tried everything. support was no help. I uninstalled the plex server on my shield because i didnt know what else to try… nothing working… I just unlinked Tidal, and it came right up…

Hi Chuck

I had a linked Tidal subscription for a while without issue. But then after a server update (to the most recent version) all of a sudden I couldn’t log in to Plex properly. Uninstalling and re-installing my server didn’t help - in fact it made things worse as I could then no longer even Claim my server.

I feel like something broke with my account after the server update, and the eventual “fix” was to de-link (and delete) the Tidal subscription from my account.

It’s like I never got properly authenticated with Plex due to some error from Tidal during the authentication process, so my account couldn’t be signed into properly. Seems other people had the same issue and again removing Tidal fixed their Plex login problems…

Hope this helps
James.

After unlinking tidal from the account and reclaiming the server,
did you attempt to, and were you successful, relinking tidal?

Hi,

I’ve re-linked Tidal just now and everything seems to be OK. I’ll report back here if things fall off the rails again…

Thanks
James.
