Server Version#:1.25.0.5282
Player Version#:8.28.0.30077
Until the latest update, my FireTV4K could play my entire library no problem via Directplay and/or Directstream.
Now, it doesn’t matter what I try to play, it says the server is not powerful enough to play it. I DO NOT want the server to transcode anything! Before, I could force this behaviour and now I cannot.
Please add the “Directplay” and “Directstream” options back into the “Playback settings” options menu. It used to be in [select episode]–>click “3 dots” icon (more) then Playback Settings. The only thing there now is subtitles.
Or please add a global option to simply disable transcoding and defaulting to Directplay. I don’t care if it is in the server settings or the app settings.
The way things are, it is absolutely useless to me. I manage the quality of my files and they are all 100% compatible with my devices - and my server is weak. I am not going to upgrade a server when its job is to simply send files over the network - especially when it all worked perfectly until the update.
Also, I have already tried to sideload an old version of the app (several versions) and none of them will boot on the FireTV4K - animated Plex logo and then straight back to the main FireTV interface. In hindsight, I now wish I had disabled automatic app updates.
