Latest updates broke on Synology

I’m on a Synology 1815+
DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6

It seems like the last two Plex server updates (v1.15.3, v1.15.4) have been giving me problems. It looks like two servers intermittently appear on the web client when there should only be one, and after a few clicks around my library goes blank and cannot be accessed. The Dashboard says it can’t load anything, and nothing works. I then tried to load up another web client to see if that works and then I get the dreaded “A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here.”

The only way around it is to stop the Plex server, and restart which works for a little bit, but then it goes back to not functioning again. I’ve rebooted the Synology as well with no luck as well. Something in this update is causing this issue.

is this a work around or a fix. if a fix, could you explain why local app no longer works?

Interesting. I gave it a go, and now the administrator user works, but the other user accounts don’t now.

*Edit: Now it looks like the users no longer have libraries attributed to them so I have to redo them. This is a bit messy.

Okay, after fixing my user libraries, it seems to work okay for now. If the issue comes up again, I’ll report back here. Thanks for the suggestion. I wonder why using that address over the IP/port works.

Plex on Synology is still broken for me. I have tried to rebuild the libraries, but to no avail as I am no longer able to navigate to the source folders from the Plex UI. I have enabled the UNO client (version 3), but still no cigar.

OK, I solved the problem. In the Synology admin client I selected “Properties” on the Video folder containing my media folders. Only adminstrator had access so I added the plex user and gave it read and write permissions. This solved the problem. I had attempted to just change the permissions for the media folders (e.g. TV-shows), but that didn’t help. Only when I changed permissions on the folder which houses the media folders (TV-Shows etc) did the problem go away.

By the way, both the web client and the desktop client work after the permissions fix

Updated to Version 1.16.5.1552. All files on my Synology server are now unavailable and when I go into the Edit menu it will not show subfolders in my video archive drive. I can still surf the files and play them outside of Plex.
