How many years have people been complaining about and asking for one simple thing.
LET ME BOOST THE VOICE CHANNEL SO THAT I CAN HEAR THEM TALK!!!
Really, this has been going on for years. Put a server side set of defaults that lets me boost the center audio channel during play back. I don’t care about what the the playback is 5.1 or 7.2 or what ever. My TV is stereo and I cannot hear most of the voices unless I crank it to 80+. It’s the same problem on every brand of TV and play back device. The only people not complaining are those that have discrete speakers for every channel and there they boost the darn center channel as well.
Put a darn override on the server to boost it and transcode the audio. Hell give me the option to set it and run the transcoder and convert it like you do for video playback but for audio instead. I will let the server grind on the file if I can get one that I can HEAR!!!
If you can force audio for chrome cast why can’t you put in a feature to let us force the center channel to boost the audio out.
From the looks of it, Plex already has a feature – however this seems only to kick-in if the audio is downmixed to stereo; some platforms seem to only apply this option if the audio is being transcoded. So I suppose this won’t help you if your client doesn’t tell Plex it’ll transfer your surround audio to a stereo-only device.

I know the moderators want to phrase this as a ”feature request”. But we are all experiencing a bug - the audio is not supposed to be this low. Love Plex, but it’s honestly a bit ridicules to have us beg for them to fix it. This has been an issue for a long time now…
I love a lot of things about Plex, but I hate watching movies on it now that I’ve tried a fix in VLC. I bought a new tv AND a soundbar, and still ALWAYS have a problem that the voices are absolutely inaudible until I turn the volume so loud that once any music or action start, my ears are assaulted. I found a fix online for the VLC player, where you mess with the audio options, and it kind of rubber-bands the volume to a certain midpoint, and anything too low will get a bit of boost, anything too loud will get pulled down. It has made a world of difference, and I now scroll thru Plex to find what I want to watch, watch everything in VLC, then mark it played in Plex. It would be great if plex could offer some of these type of audio sliders
