Let’s Talk About What’s Happening "The PLEX experience"

Just tried it on a pretty slow 5G connection and while it took a few seconds it worked for me.

Plex Pass has always been optional though. You don’t pay for PMS you pay for the additional features PMS offers. Plex is free software always has been.

YOUR EXPERIENCE does not equate to someone else’s simply because YOU tried it. :man_facepalming:t2:

And so are WINDOWS 11 users who only know and have the requirement to use Windows apps on their laptop, it doesn’t take away from all the unnecessary change that Microsoft does that causes the majority of the pc using populace from complaining on the Windows forums. What’s your point? Both Plex and Windows are ecosystems that customers have accepted as SAAS and there are lots of cons of using Plex at this very moment. That doesn’t take away the fact there are people who have concerns and or have the inability to have the apps work properly.

No but I just like you can see what another user says is a bug for them, go test that bug myself and see if it shows up for me. I don’t have to be a secret insider with privy information to do that.

Doesn’t equate to their experience no but it shows the app can remote stream and something is likely wrong on the server side of their setup. I couldn’t remote stream anything for years until I fixed it at the router/server level.

So streaming works for you, nice, but a large amount of files not.
I still have software that does not work.

Second, the free version is criplied in function. Plex pass provides additional features, which makes it payed software.

See the differnces between free and payed?

Lets have plex explain it: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202526943-plex-free-vs-paid/
As soon as you pay for software, you may expect a certain level of support. Not being threated as Alpha user.

This is not the first time that it is a mess.

They should not have released this alpha version!

LMAO yeah, you’re definitely the one who should not be taken seriously here.

So I turned on Live tv just to test and it seems to be working for me. So not sure where our setups differ but I’m not experiencing any issues on initial testing.

Is that with a tuner or is that Plex’s own channels?

Plex’s own live TV channels. Don’t have a tuner to test that setup unfortunately.

Yeah anybody who actually uses that app to test if functionality works should NOT be taken seriously. Some rock solid logic you have there.

You literally proved you’re not someone to speak on these matters due to your inability to experience what others have. Do you see your logic? You’re running with the mouth.

What? He said live TV didn’t work for him so I turned live TV on and it worked for me. He didn’t specify if he used a tuner/DVR setup so no way I could know that. You likely just want to cry on the forums instead of seeing what actually works for people.

Can we please curb the down a notch?
I can sympathize with frustration where the new apps are not up to par with the previous ones. I won’t argue that.

If you take a breath, you might notice that you’re now fighting over if it’s worth fighting with each other.
@D_eight6 : no offense… you can perfectly disagree with @MrFancyPants1999 – or ignore them. But discrediting them because you don’t like their argument is getting us into a troublesome area.
This is a public forum – please @everyone, behave accordingly.

Mine just got updated and OMG, what a mess. I was perfectly happy with how it was before and now I hate it. Worst of all, the update logged me out and I discovered that after I had boarded a plane where I had no internet connection and opened Plex expecting to play some of the many movies I had spent hours curating and downloading to my device only to find that I can’t access my content that I downloaded to my device. What is the point of supporting downloading if you have to be logged in?! The entire point of downloading content onto a device is so that you can watch it somewhere with no internet connection. I’m so mad about this, if I’d known about this ridiculous limitation I would have just copied the video files manually and played them with VLC. Worst of all I could not find a way of playing the downloaded files with something else, it seems Plex doesn’t just store them as videos in some accessible location. I’m so frustrated with the direction Plex has taken. Like most users I want it for one thing and one thing only - playing content from MY server. With every update I have to waste time looking up how to disable the latest feature I didn’t ask for and don’t want, and re-leaning how to do stuff I already knew how to do. I am a lifetime pass owner and have enjoyed Plex for many years but the moment I find a suitable alternative I’m done.

From my experience, I go on my own policy which is if I hit a wall with a person I’m making suggesting to I tag a Ninja, offer up help pages, or apologize that I am no help and that i would have to move on. The only reason I had to push further into @MrFancyPants1999 is to their insistence, double downing that they have no problems and there’s nothing wrong with the app. The very least they could do is just tap out and move on. Instead, they continue to insist, making others infuriated as well.

So while you wish for me to calm down, the idea that you’re suggesting that @MrFancyPants1999 should be taken into account is a bit silly considering the conversations we all had in the last few days with them.

You don’t have to agree with me.
Just keep the forum guidelines in mind before getting into a fight.

What’s wrong if someone doesn’t agree with your perspective (e.g. pointing out that some stuff got fixed / is actually working – for them. Does it take anything away from the “it’s all broken and will never work again” perspective that’s spread across the forum these days? – please, consider that a rhetorical question)

It is not the dev‘s fault. This is a management issue and tbh it is unclear to me how the person who made the decision to release the app in this state still has a job. Probably a management issue as well. Plex needs to self correct here before it is too late

If a user reports a broken functionality, „but it works for me“ posts do nothing to help or add and only belittle OPs perspective and often result in unnecessary meta discussions. This is why behaviour like this it is usually frowned upon in most forums since the bbs days and should get moderated here as well.

What is your issue exactly? I wasn’t even talking to you in any of my initial post. A user said he couldn’t remote stream so I tested on my end and was able to remote stream. Another user said live TV wasn’t working for them so I turned live tv on and tested it and it worked for me (iOS).

You have not had any conversations with me as I haven’t been on the forum for 2-3 days. So unless another MrFancyPants is running around the forums I haven’t even spoken or replied to many people here recently as the overwhelming negativity has been a little much for my taste.

We don’t have to share the same perspective and can agree to disagree on how horrible and terrible the new app is

“It works for me” is also useful and lets other users know that something else could be causing the issue for them outside of the app itself.

Another users “it works for me” post helped me on reddit over the weekend with my music library because I was beating my head against the wall for nothing when all I had to do was change 1 setting to get the result I wanted. If it wasn’t for that users post I would have been requesting a Plex music feature this morning instead of fixing my own issue. So it all depends on the user and what they find helpful.

So I’m grateful some users don’t just “shut up and move on” because if that user had did so I wouldn’t have found my solution on a random reddit post.
