LG CX Player fails to natively play HDR content

My plex player on my LG CX now fails to play any HDR 10bit content, I used to be able to watch HDR content on it months ago, and the TV would switch to HDR when starting an HDR video, but now it doesn’t anymore, and I can clearly see the movie colors are wrong. I’ve tried a lot of movie files that used to work and none of them work anymore. The first time I opened one yesterday, it asked me to buy the Plex Pass to tonemap HDR to SDR, so that it would show right, as if my CX did not support HDR.

Plex Media Server is most likely transcoding the video for some reason.

What is displayed in Plex Dashboard → Now Playing (expand the view to see details)?

Is the video or audio transcoding?

If you’ve subtitles enabled, turn them off.

This is how the Plex LG app behaves with subtitles:

  1. Enabling image based subtitles, PGS or VOBSUB, results in a video transcode.
  2. If audio is transcoding, enabling any subtitle results in a video transcode.
  3. If audio is direct playing, text subtitles, SRT & VTT, direct play.
  4. For ASS/SSA subtitles:
    1. If Burn Subtitles = Automatic in the Plex LG app, enabling ASS/SSA subtitles results in a video transcode.
    2. If Burn Subtitles = Only Image Formats, ASS/SSA subtitles, direct play, but formatting information (color, location, etc) may be lost.

Yeah it works with subtitles off. Thanks. Hope one day the app can support subs without being forced to SDR, though maybe i could make srt subs and it should work right?
Thanks.
