LG early access bugs

The menu and interface is zoomed in, thereby not allowing me to see any option menu. When playing media the ratio appears appropriate, but when attempting to adjust settings, I can only view part of the menus because of the interface being zoomed/cropped.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I had early access turned on using our LG tv, but couldn’t find my plex server. Switched back. I will say, the early access looked great.

Using an LG TV and the new version just sat there buffering. Looked good, especially the screensaver, but nothing played…just buffered. Uninstalled. The old version usually just ginds away until I reboot the LG. I sure do hope the final version resolves this as Plex is just about unusable on my TV.

I use the browser to control the tv app when listening to music. I always have the audio on Plex relatively low, and control the audio on my amp instead, because for some reason the sound quality is terrible when the audio on Plex is high (this may be a more general problem). BUT in the early access of the new app, I can no longer control the audio on Plex and it seems to be permanently stuck on max. Which means that my music library is unlistenable. Really, it’s a muddy mess, it sounds like a Soundbox cranked up to a setting it can’t handle.

I also found that the app keeps crashing when listening to music. It freezes every half hour or so, the app is unresponsive, and I have to restart the tv in order to get it to work again.

Also, I’m only using Plex Media Server and not the streaming offers. I imagine this is the case for a lot of people. Why would the standard setting remove my PMS library from the home screen?

I really hope you’re not planning on forcing the new version on users before fixing these things. I don’t see what anyone could gain from e.g. removing audio controls.

Been using the early access on my LG tv for a while now.
Overall a very nice layout and “feel”.

Some issues i’ve encountered.

  1. Subtitle download not working. Only english is available and option to change language is greyed out.
  2. Selecting items with magic remote “mouse-pointer” not working. (I prefer to use the up/down buttons so it doesn’t matter much to me personally)
  3. To much buffering. For some reason some 4K movies keep on buffering every few seconds and even some 1080 movies do some buffering every now and then. Even though i have my settings to direct-play.
  4. Switching between users sometimes hangs the program completely. Have to switch the tv off completely for 5 mins to make sure Plex is not loaded anymore before i can restart.

Client Version 5.1.1
WebOS 4.2

The screensaver works fine for Plex logo and Entertainment but not for Photos. When Photos is selected it just shows the Logo. I just have a small photo library with 30 photos in it for testing.

Browsing photos is fine.

Anyone else in early access have an issue with their subtitles not playing when resuming content. If I watch an anime from the beginning the subs play fine but if I try to resume the same episode later the subs won’t show. The only way they come back is if I start from the beginning or set subs to burn always instead of automatically. If I leave the early access it is not an issue.

tidal isnt working in the new view. so i went back to the old view

I just came back to using Early Access and there has been improvements from the last time I used it 2 months ago.
I’m now able to Direct Play my 4k content before it was a no go situation.

This was working fine since I purchased the TV a few weeks ago. But I was obliged to reset the TV to solve some HDMI-CEC issues (don’t get me started) and now HDR is detected only intermittently and no surround sound is at all is going to my Denon receiver.

It not possible anymore to manually download subtitles what’s happened

To open, thank you to the Plex team for continuing to plug away with LG Web OS edition, no doubt it has its challenge, not least being LG themselves. Your effort is appreciated.

A couple of issues I’ve noticed in the last few days (something must have been updated I guess)…

The ability to access the Hubs has gone, now I’ve got a home screen with rows of content I do not want on my home screen - no obvious (or hidden) way to resolve this, and no mention of Hubs anywhere;

When editing libraries, the menus keep changing, and its not always clear why a function shows on one ‘edit’ menu but not another; and

Why does each category default to ‘recommended’? Its not really helpful - I know what’s in my Library without Plex needing to recommend anything.

1 & 3 aren’t all that of a bother, but this new home screen without the ability to edit the content is a real annoyance - I want to have the ability to customise this.

This happens all the time on my LG CX 55 Oled but also the same thing happens if I use my 4K amazon firestick…

I had no idea I was early access and had been pulling my hair out for weeks. Finally realised I could go back to the old app and all my problems disappeared. Would have been nice to know I opted to be a guinea pig, I feel that wasn’t made clear to me tbh.

Early access looks great and performs well until the retry connection pops up every few days or so but tonight it completely broke and would not find a connection which is when I noticed I was early access.
