Unable to direct connect to Plex server running on same network. Have manually configured IP address in TV Plex app, running wired, and updated all software to latest version. Router is port forwarded, all systems on same subnet mask, on Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8) and have insecure fallback and prefer insecure connections set to same netowrk (setting these to always breaks the connection to Plex).
Able to access Plex via remote on phone web browser but goes indirect when on the same network.
From the server to dumb switch to Asus router, router to TV via hard wire. All same network and subnet mask. Remote access is fully enabled but connection shows as indirect.
Manual settings in Plex app on TV to connect to server IP and port.
I have the same problem with my computer that is connected to the same dumb switch as the server. (Hope that is some helpful info)
Ok, on the Plex app on the TV, there is an option to send logging to your server. Enable that feature, then try playing something. Let it play for about 1 minute. Stop playback and then grab the logs from PMS.
I have attached the logs for plex while watching an episode on the TV. Checked the server status in the settings to confirm it is still using indirect connection before starting. Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-17_19-38-28 LG TV.zip (3.9 MB)
Sorry for the delay. Are you running a VirtualBox on your machine? If so, looks like you didn’t set it up right so your PC’s on a separate network away from your TV.
Well somethings not right. Your server appears to be on a public IP starting with 173. The requests from your TV are coming in from one starting with 99. So they are definitely on different networks for some reason.
TV is coming in via “indirect” connection atm, it is unable to connect via direct connection.
Found my Server PC is unable to be seen within my network and can not even ping itself. It looks like I have a problem with the PC itself. I will update this post with my findings when I find a solution to the ping issue.
