LG Tv no longer works with Plex “the server is unreachable"

Yes it is NetCast, we know it is not supported anymore, and we aren’t asking for updates. We just want it to keep working like it always did.

I hope there is a solution. The fact that we can get in by changing the language means it is a bug in the software. I reckon it is something that has been changed on the server side, and it is really annoying. Because now I have to spend money to get hold of a third party dongle instead of just using my tv

I have exactly the same problem

Please… give us a solution

Any update on this?

There are not going to be updates because as Plex has stated numerous times, unsupported platforms are just that, unsupported. They are not going to come up with a solution for this. This is normal for all types of software and not unique to Plex. As a matter of fact it came out earlier this year that Google Movie will no longer function on Netcast TVs. Are you going to go light up Google about that? Probably not. The advice to purchase a dongle or streaming box of some kind is the best you are going to get, and a surefire solution. The Chromecast with Google TV is great for folks on a budget and for people with more funds I suggest the Nvidia Shield or Apple TV 4K.

We are looking into if there is anything we can do, but right now I can’t make any promises.

If any of you are able to capture the network traffic via wireshark/tcpdump it may help us figure out what is going on. (you can message it to me)

I have sent you two logs, in a private message. Hope this helps

Just thought I should tell you that plex has started working today. It asked for my code letters and allowed me to log in. I notice when you log in it doesn’t need the ip address that I have been entering for the past couple of days, but finds my server automatically.

What is really annoying is that I just ordered a Roku box, and now I don’t really need it. Still I can use it for ITV Hub I suppose.

We found some things that should hopefully fix things for some of the old LG sets.

Please keep in mind these some of these sets are unsupported and we will likely not be able to fix future issues. The old Tvs are running an old version of app and you should still consider getting a attached device if not upgrading TV.

Well I got the Roku box coming in 3 days as a backup. Will probably keep using the one on the tv as long as possible, and switch to the Roku if it fails.

Well my Roku Ultra box came. and wow Plex has changed. You do all the channels and live tv and everything. I recommend the Roku Ultra even if you are in Britain. The ultra is only available in America, but you can still buy it in Britain, even though BBC Iplayer won’t work if you buy that version. The reason I brought the ultra is because it has an ethernet port, and I can still watch iplayer on the tv anyway. Plex is so much better and the plex interface is so much faster in the Roku box. It is amazing.

Any news ? Any date for deployment ?

Nothing has changed in regard to the older devices mentioned in the announcement. They still need too allow insecure connections. Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021

For the webOS 5 and 6 devices we are still looking into it, but have not been able to reproduce issue on those afaik.

Make sure you actually have a webOS 5+ device by looking the “platform version” listed in Settings > About of the app. This may be different than the firmware of TV
