LG 55UB820V-ZH PLEX is not reachable

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Plex server is unavailable on LG TV for several days. Everything works fine on the rest of the devices in the network. The TV has been reset to factory settings and installed PLEX again. It did nothing. Other applications like Youtube, Player are working properly.

Hi there. I’m experiencing the exact same issue on the same model of TV. It has been working up until a few days ago.

I’ve tried removing the app, power cycling the TV. Removing as an authorised device and it’s made no difference.

Plex is working fine on all other devices and Netflix etc are working fine on the TV with the Plex issue.

Not sure what to try next but it seems a huge coincidence that someone with the same TV is experiencing the same issue all of a sudden.

Found this announcement in the forums. Would be good to confirm our model of TV is affected but again it would be too coincidental not to be the cause.

On September 30, 2020 we will be ending support for the Plex app on some older smart TVs. These devices are unable to use modern, secure connections when communicating with our services. TVs that are potentially affected by this include:

  • LG models running “Netcast” (the pre-webOS system)
  • Vizio models running “Presto” (models using a Mediatek chipset)
  • Older Hisense models
  • Panasonic (2014-2016 models)
  • Pre-2016 Samsung models, running v1.x of the community Samsung Smart Hub app for Plex

If a device is affected, the Plex app will no longer be able to function correctly on the device, unfortunately. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we encourage you to upgrade your Plex experience with one of several updated and affordable devices such as Google Chromecast, Roku Express, or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Thanks,
The Plex Team

I’m also getting this error on model 49LK6100PLB which runs WebOS.

So I’m having the same problem on a WebOS tv and have figured out the issue.

Only WebOS 3.0 and above will be able to support Plex…

in my case, my version is 1.4 afro-ashley

Just to confirm my TV is currently running WebOS 4.1.4-5920 (goldilocks-glacier) and I am getting the error, however it’s not UHD which the release notes seem to indicate is required?!

You cheapest option is to buy a box like a Roku, Apple TV or prepare for further updates and buy a NVIDIA Shield. I know it not what you want to here, I was in the same situation 2 years ago. New TV or a Box, I bought a shinny new LG OLED. Great TV and so happy.

Just to clarify, I’m running webOS 4.7.2-50910 (goldilocks2-gulaga).

I have a similar problem here, out of nowhere my TVs no longer connect to the plex servers, I can’t log in anymore, 49LJ5500 webOS 3.8 and 32LM625 webOS 4.7.

Same problem here. LG/NetCast 2013 model.

Looks like Plex are no longer supporting my TV – and I’m not buying a new TV – so I guess it’s bye bye Plex.

It has something to do with the LG App. When I add my network as “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” I can regain connectivity directly with the local Plex server application. When I remove those, the LG App cannot authenticate with Plex.TV which makes the application believe it has no connectivity. Plex needs to address the application failure on WebOS preferably 1.4 and forward

It is not only LG… Panasonic too, only android based versions works.

Same issue
LG 32LM630BPLA “[LG] webOs TV”
Web is ver 4.7.2-50911
Plex for LG 3.13.28

When hit “log in” from the error screen it either does nothing or it flicks my selection to retry

Tried these with no joy

  • log on web app and remove affected device, try to re register tv/app.

  • factory reset TV / redownload

  • enter server IP/Port manually

  • delete app and wait for a good while, power off for 30 seconds / back on / download … can’t say I understand it properly but a post somewhere mentioned the idea being to let it clear from cache

  • another post mentioned Plex support updating the version displayed in “about” from
    3.13.28
    To
    3.13.29

And a few people said it fixed it / just re-download it - but realised that’s for netcast not WebOs… and besides I have the latest version I can from LG and that’s the former version (3.13.28)

Did an OTT process of

  • remove app
  • power off TV
  • power off router
  • power on TV
  • Power on router
  • download app
  • manually enter connection details (IP/port)

No joy

Think I give up now - need a support reply really

ÂżEs su televisor un modelo HD o un modelo UHD 4K LG?

lg hd

Same here on an LG 42LB730 with WebOS 1.4.0 and Plex latest app from store (v2.2 by store but 3.13…28 by app settings about).
But I think it did not start at Sept 30th rather sometime last week.

Is this forum monitored by anyone from Plex support?
