Since yesterday plex has stopped working with my tv. I think it uses webos 2 or something. Now I heard that plex was going to discontinue support for older tvs.
When I run plex it says “the server is unreachable" a button marked try again, a home button, a settings button. Now I thought I could solve it by putting my local ip in the settings. So I went into the settings, entered my local ip and then I click try again.
The problem is that it forgets my settings. I understand after the upgrade that on older tvs that they won’t be able to sign in, but I should still be able to see local content, on the same server, which is all I am interested in.
Now I can access plex from a web browser without problems, as I have an ip range set for all my devices, and my tv is included in that range.
I have secure connection set to preferred also.
I am wondering if there is a solution to plex forgetting my settings. I even tried resetting the tv, and nothing works.
Do you think installing an older version of plex will work, or is it at server level?
Normally I have the tv app set to allow insecure connections, but here is the problem, the settings have reset. I can click settings and go into settings, but when I click retry it forgets my settings again. So it is useless trying to set any settings. I even uninstalled the plex app and re-installed it, and nothing changes. I then reset the tv to factory settings and tried again, and the problem persisted.
Yes it does seem like the same issue. He keeps losing his settings too. I didn’t come across this post when I made mine. There doesn’t seem to be a solution though
My tv doesn’t seem to lose it’s colour and brightness settings every time. I did reboot today and it did, however now it seems to be remembering it’s settings. However Plex still isn’t working.
I am going to try and uninstall plex and turn the tv off and then re-install again. Will let you know how I get on.
I had a breakthrough. I can get plex to run only if I do this, but I have to do this every time.
I went into settings and enter my ip address for my server. eg 192.168.1.* etc. Set “Allow fallback to insecure conections” to always. Now what I normally do here is hit the X button and then click retry, but that resets the settings.
So what I did differently was this. I went to language and changed the language from English to English (UK). Then I clicked the X button. Then it said it was setting the language, and then it loaded plex and everything worked. I didn’t have to click retry or sign in. It did it automatically.
The only problem is that if I shut plex down. I gotta put the IP address in again.
Tomorrow I am going to try and get in, and then try changing the settings once I get in.
However it is 2am now and I am going to try this tomorrow.
This isn’t really a fix, but at least I can get into plex now
PS. The only bad thing is, that because it isn’t signed in I cannot log into any external plex servers, which we normally do, yet I can see all my own stuff on my server. However if I log in via a web browser I can see my brother’s plex server.
I am having the same issue. Changing the language to English UK does fix it temporarily until the TV is turned off… We definitely need a permanent solution.
I think something has changed on the server side to stop it working. It is very annoying. I can see my own plex stuff, but can’t see any of the other servers I am connected to
