LG TV Not Playing Certain Videos

Server Version#: latest stable
Player Version#: latest stable

I have some mkv files that will not play correctly on LG TV. They do play fine however in all other Plex players. The video will play, but all you see is a black screen. The audio can be heard. So not sure how to troubleshoot this?

Can you report your LG TV model?

Hi, it is a LG UH8500 with software version 05.65.03

Thank you for that information. To confirm my thoughts can you go to the Title poster and click on the Vertical Ellipsis/ Kebab Menu ⋮, then scroll down to Info. Take a photo or screenshot and reply.

My guess is the file is HDR10+ which LG does not support

Sure, here it is.

Just to humor me, can you remux this file through MKVToolNix, swap out files and empty trash on server.

Ok, tried that but not noticed a change. But not really sure the empty trash does anything at all either.

1082 pixels tall is a weird height, but I dunno why that would be a problem.

I assume it plays if you choose a lower quality (and force a transcode)?

I have noticed your on a Mac server. Please check your Transcoding settings. Have disabled video stream transcoding.

Empty Trash just removes the old file and associations from your server. This can create a error when trying to play. Like: Unavailable

In my book when swapping files or adding or deleting files these following settings are some of most important in having a happy and functional Plex environment.

It does play if I pick a lower quality and force a transcode. I think there is something about the format it doesn’t like.

Yes I use a Mac server and settings were as your screenshot.
