Why does some files not display correclty? LG 55CX

I have lots of 4k remuxes. Most play fine, but others wont play at all. (Not that they dont’ play but the screen is grey or some weird color stuff).

Brave.2012.2160p.BluRay.REMUX.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-FGT.mkv <- this one is always messed up.

The.Hunt.for.Red.October.1990.2160p.PROPER.UHD.BluRay.X265-IAMABLE.mkv <- off and on. Mostly on.

The dr strange 4k remux plays fine the whole way through.

I have a nas on my network, and I can all of these videos just fine in my kodi box(odroid c2).

Is the video transcoding? You can check using the Plex Dashboard.

Try playing the movies with subtitles turned off and see if that helps. Also, choose the AC3/Dolby Digital audio track if possible.

If possible, choose audio tracks that direct play.

  • TrueHD audio will always be transcoded. Choose the Dolby Digital version if available.
  • LG recently removed dts audio support from their TVs. If you’ve a newer model, without dts audio, then Plex will transcode dts to a supported format. You should avoid using subtitles if this is the case.

The Plex app on LG TVs has limited subtitle support.

  • Enabling image subtitles, PGS & VOBSUB, forces video transcoding.
  • If the audio is transcoding, then enabling subtitles of any type forces video transcoding.
  • If the audio is direct playing, then text subtitles, SRT & VTT, will direct play.
  • If Burn Subtitles = Only Image Formats in the Plex app, then ASS subtitles direct play.
  • If Burn Subtitles = Automatic in the Plex app, then enabling ASS subtitles causes a video transcode.

I have turned off subtitles and transcoding. As nothing plays well. This is a atom based nas, it cannot transcode fast enough.

But this has nothing to do with the problem.

When I enable subtitles which turns on transcoding the videos will buffer every 10 seconds which is unwatchable. But the video looks fine.

I’ve also declicked dts as that caused issues with audio.

Oh. So, I found an issue. Thanks for the link to the status… the audio is transcoding. I changed the audio thing on brave and that fixed the video issue.

The issue is, the audio plays fine but the video is messed up for some reason.

Also,l now that I have been looking there are plenty of media stuff that plays fine with audio transcoding…
