I have an LG TV at a family members house a few miles from me that was connected to my Plex server remotely via a separate Plex account I shared some libraries with. Worked fine for months. My server got corrupted and I had to rebuild it a few weeks ago. The server name is the same as before and all is well working on most of my clients and even my phone when I’m not home so it’s not a remote access issue. But, I can’t connect on this TV that is also remote. Other apps like Netflix are able to connect fine.
I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it and even doing a “reset“ from within the app, but it still doesn’t work.
I went into my Plex account and deleted the device under authorized devices. Even though I can log off of this Plex account and log back in, it does not see the actual server. It times out while looking for it and then ultimately just shows the Plex provided content.
I would remove the persons account and reinvite them. It’s likely due to the fact that when you rebuilt the server and claimed it all your devices recognized it not because it was the “same” as the old server but because you connected it to your account. The person you are sharing with doesn’t have that same luxury because the server that you shared with them no longer exists even if it is the same name, and your new doesn’t just automatically show up on their account because you haven’t shared it with them. You can before removing them and reinviting see if you can just go to their user account and share the new server and libraries with them.
Honestly, I tried to do that, but couldn’t find any way to remove their account. All I could find was a way to stop sharing library‘s with them. How can I do that?
In the settings for your server go to the Users and Sharing tab. In there you will find all the accounts you are currently sharing to. Click on any one of them and you should be able to edit what you share with them. Failing that I would remove them and reinvite them from that same page.

I was in the correct place on my phone last night when i posted this. the delete user “X” is only visible if you hover it though…so can’t do it on a phone!
His ACCOUNT is now working, but only on his laptop. The TV is still doing the same thing. I told him to sign out, delete the app, shut the TV off and let it sit unplugged for an hour then re-do everything. We’ll see what happens…
