LG WebOS 1 TV (2014): getting update prompt to new v5.0.0 of Plex client

Have been running plex client v3.13.28 on an LG TV with WebOS 1.4.0 [55UB8500 - model year 2014]
There haven’t been any updates for ages & I assumed it was orphaned from future release ( I see mention of WebOS 2 & 3, not 1]

I was surprised when I fired up the app on this TV to be prompted to update to
v5.0.0 3/23/2012 281KB

Anyone else had the courage to update? Any issues and/or observations of the changes?

Generally happy with existing client so don’t want to enter a world of pain!
TV connects to the latest PMS [1.22.1.4228] running locally on a NAS

TIA
M

I would really want to know what’s new, because it just seems the same (obsolete) app to me. I’d love to see the new features on my WebOs 2.5 TV.

I got the update for 5.0.0 in the LG Store but am still running on 3.13.28 from within the app settings / about page on a non UHD LG webOS set. The good news is it can Direct Play Live TV recordings that have not been converted and are existing MPEG transport stream files. There are even some songs that have lyrics. No complaints here, except that I thought it was a major version upgrade.

Software version fragmentation is not pretty.

I did the plex client update on my WebOS 1.4 [model year 2014] LG TV UHD from the LG Store [which popped up every time I ran the plex client]. Checking the client in Setting/ About, it still reports the same version [3.13.28], but no longer pops up the LG Store at plex client startup
Client looks the same, the options seems similar & a few movies I tested worked ok…so I’m happy about that!

Don’t update this version is messed up

That is incorrect. What your seeing is a loader version update. The LG client is a Web app so it is not local. Unlike the update stated.
