LG webOS: No "Recently Added" or "On Deck"

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#: 2.21.1 webOS 3.3.0 (from photo of user’s TV screen)
(cannot find a way to discover this from the server)
WebOS Version#: 05.30.50 (from photo of user’s TV screen)

I have only one user with a smart LG TV and tautulli reports it as webOS, “Plex for LG”, LG OLED55B6P-U. Last week he mentioned that he was having difficulty finding new shows because the recently added TV and movies items no longer appear on his home screen. He believes that on deck is also missing and reports that the only thing he can see is a full list of all of the media libraries I share with him. FWIW, he has it configured to auto-update the firmware and apps, so everything SHOULD be current.

He has his own plex account and connects as a friend (from outside my home network.) I have found people reporting similar problems since at least 2015 (maybe earlier) but I have yet to find a single report that had a reply. Not even one. So I expect this to be ignored, too, but just in case:

What happened? Also, is there documentation somewhere (that is up-to-date) for each of the different plex players, especially the LG/webOS player in my case? These would be a boon to people who share their server with, um, less technically competent users…

If those are missing from the home screen then he need to go to the library and add them back to the home screen. https://support.plex.tv/articles/customizing-the-apps/

or they can go to Settings>Reset Customizations to start from scratch

Thanks, I forwarded the link to the guy who owns the LG Smart TV. Hopefully he will be able to follow it.

I am still curious why the home screen would be working fine and then, suddenly be completely empty one day. Was the app updated and the developers forgot to include the concept of a default home screen to start with? Or did something else go wrong with the app?

I can make all sorts of guesses but I don’t think it would be helpful. The home screen is customizable and yes it does have defaults based on a chosen “favorite server” which is a wizard when launched that asks the users to choose. All the hubs on the home screen can be removed if a user doesn’t want them. There haven’t been any major changes to the UI recently.

OK. He just told me he hadn’t used plex for a while (on the order of two weeks) and when he started it up, the home screen was empty. Oh well, I will just assume he elected not to read a prompt and chose the wrong answer, resulting in an empty home screen. That works for me.

Thanks for the answers! :slightly_smiling_face:
