As the title says, my plex client is forcing transcodes of any file it comes across. The TV is an LG C1. Only local connections on the network, no remote access.

Check the Plex LG app settings.
Enable both Direct Play and Direct Stream.
Disabling Direct Stream does not force direct play. It forces Plex to transcode the video if the audio is transcoding.
The LG C1 does not support TrueHD or DTS audio formats. If you play media with either audio format, it will be transcoded by Plex Media Server to a supported format.
Also, be aware that subtitles come into play. With the Plex LG app, if the audio is transcoding and any subtitle format is enabled, the video will also transcode.

Noted the audio format limitations.
DP & DS are both enabled. No subtitles on.
I’ve tried playing a 1080p x264 file with AC-3 audio and the audio direct plays, but the video is still being transcoded.

Obviously something to do with the LG plex client, as the transcoding doesn’t occur when played on another client.
