LG WebOS Plex won’t play above 720p or update

WebOS: 05.10.40
Plex Version: 2.1.3

Tv: LG UK6200PUA

For whatever reason, my plex app says it was last updated in Aug 2019. Is 2.1.3 really the newest version for Plex App on LG WebOS?

Also ever though I have the internet connection to upload 4K content and the TV I’m trying to stream on (remotely) is a 4K tv with a more than fast enough connection, I can’t seem to get anything to stream at higher than 720p.

I’ve enabled direct play, ensured my server remote settings are set to allow original content and yet it will force transcode to 720p.

Any ideas?

There two ways to gather the correct LG client version.

  1. Via the app settings/about
  2. Server settings/ Authorized Devices

What your seeing is the app Loader version in the LG content store.

As for the Trans coding, have you looked at your LG app settings? Secondly trying to use 4K remotely will always be troublesome.

I can stream 4K using other smart streaming devices. Just not the LG variant.

Can you list those devices, are they all WiFi devices?

What audio is in 4K Titles? Sounds like trans coding

Could be. And nothing is WiFi that I’m personally using except for the TV.

It could be a transcoding thing. Most of them are HEVC with at least AC3 for audio.
