I am hoping that somebody can help, all of my libraries have gone missing but only when accessed through certain players, so the IOS apps on both iPhone and iPad work normally, but if I use the same device and go through Plex.tv the libraries are missing, if I use a PC to access Plex.tv or http://192.168..:32400/web/index.html#!/ the libraries are missing, in the Samsung TV app the libraries are missing.
This is all based on local access and is not a remote access issue.
I have had Plex working for several years and this started about 2 weeks after changing my router to a Netgear Orbi system, not sure if this is connected or a red herring as I had normal functionality for the first 2 weeks, the server is running on a Netgear RN214.
I’m hoping somebody has an idea because I’m at a loss as to where to start with this one.
The router change might be a red herring… but let’s rule it out first
Is your home network separated into different subnets? This can e.g. happen if you have multiple network components running their own DHCP and assigning their own IP addresses to devices connected to them.
If your devices and the server are on different subnets this could cause some hiccups. You can compensate this by including the “other subnet” in Settings > [Server Name] > Network > LAN networks. A new router could have changed the subnet address range for Plex to no longer recognize your previous configuration
Hi,
Thanks for the response, sorry I wasn’t clear, I don’t see the server as an option anymore on the web interface, all i get are the following options under settings
and the only libraries are plexweb default items.
I have checked the router’s attached devices list and the server and all clients are on the same subnet.
Can you share your server’s log files? Given you cannot access the server settings, you’d need to collect them manually from the server machine.
→ server logs
Can you double-check the DNS settings on your RN214 and the network?
It appears your server fails to resolve the domain plex.tv – or at least on some 2000+ occurrences.
Thank you, that’s done it the ReadyNAS was looking for the router at the wrong IP address and I’m presuming that was stopping it accessing the DNS as a result, not sure how it ever worked but hey its sorted now.
