Libraries not updating consistently during Scan

Server Version#: 4.68.0
Player Version#: 1.24.5.5173 (these might be reversed - can’t tell which is which between Server & Player)

I believe I am up to date on versions, but I have noticed at least two of my libraries are not updating correctly to match the number of files in the respective folders. I have tried deleting/re-adding, changing the Scanner/Agent, etc. but I still can’t get a complete representation of what is in the local folders to display in Plex.

What additional information can I provide to help troubleshoot?

I take it you compared the actual files folders, not the number of library items displayed at the top of the library view?
The number of items will be different depending if/how many collections your library includes or if you have different quality versions of the same video merged together. The same applies to stacked files (video split across multiple files).

At least make sure to change the sort order of your library to something different from By Title. This will at least remove your collections from the equation

Yes, I have things sorted by Date Added and I don’t have any collections that I’m aware of. To simplify things, I even removed all the “folders” from my source so I could compare number of files in the Plex directory to the number of files in the local folder, and there are discrepancies in each library.

No need for that. Just change the sort order inside Plex to anything but By Title.
If the numbers are still different use the library filter to search for Duplicates.

Just did that in one folder (as a test) and there were 7 duplicates. Adding 7 to the total that is showing with “Date Added” as the sort makes it a LOT closer, but I’m still missing one title. A needle in a 4,000+ file haystack!

Check if you have any files that end with something like - part1/- part2, - pt1/- pt2 or - disc1/- disc2. Plex will „stack“ those files and treat them as parts of the same video (playing them consecutively).

This can easily happen for the final double movies if you don’t include the release year I’m the file names; examples are Harry Potter („Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1“ / „Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2“) or The Hunger Games („Mockingjay - Part 1“ / „Mockingjay - Part 2“) where the suffix is an actual part of the movie title.
