Number of Movies in Library doesn't match Movie Files on Disk

One more question for the phenomenol experts in this forum:

I have 331 movies in my “Movies” folder on my hard drive and only 330 in PLEX.

Is there a way to print pout from flex in alphabetical order or to export to excel the titles in PLEX so I can compare them to a printout from my hard drive folder. List view in Plex is not good enough since it does not seem to do true alphabetical order

Thanks guys !

There’s different ways…

Check for Duplicates inside Plex

Sometimes Plex finds files with a similar name that will accidentally match as the same movie in your library. This is supposed to work for different versions (e.g. HD/SD) of the same movie.
A movie with multiple versions will have a blu(ish) square or circle with a number in the top-left corner of the poster.

Instead of looking all over your library to find them you can also filter your library for duplicates.

Check for “collections”

The number displayed in Plex is the number of items displayed – not the number of movies. You’ll notice it changes when you filter your library.
If you have manually created collections or let Plex create them automatically, those can also cause the numbers to deviate.
Example: You have grouped the 3 Lord of the Rings into 1 collection – depending on your configuration, Plex will group them in the library screen and only show the collection entry. So instead of 3 movies, it’ll show 1 item

The support article linked below shows how you can directly display collections (or change how they appear in Plex):

Last not least…

If you cannot find the difference in the Plex UI, there’s some supporting tools which can help you create exports from Plex.
