I’m running plex server on a Qnap NAS. The server is feeding several Roku TVs with the Plex app on my local network.
Most libraries are fine across all devices (for example, “Shows” and “Music” display all the content in their libraries) but when access the Movies library, I get a “Library Unavailable. The owner has not added content to this library” message.
UPDATE: I’m now getting this same error messages with several other libraries.
Plex îs most definitely pointing to the correct Folders.
I’ve tried various things to correct this including renaming then relinking folders, moving video folders, and repointing Plex there, and deleting and recreating Plex Libraries. Nothing seems to work to get the videos to load.
However, here’s some general troubleshooting questions/steps:
PMS version? 1.29.x.yyyy, etc., not 4.xxx
What changed? PMS update, Roku app update, etc.
Only Rokus exhibiting the problem? What if you use Plex Web, a mobile app, etc.
Check file/folder permissions. Make sure Plex has at least read-only permission.
Reboot the Qnap.
If still not working, provide debug level server logs that capture the problem.
a) Configure PMS for debug level logs, Settings → Server_Name → General
b) Re-create the problem. Scan libraries, try to play something with a Roku.
c) Pull server logs, Settings → Troubleshooting
d) Upload log files to the forum (reply to thread, drag entire .zip file into the message window, it will insert at the cursor location).
FYI, A couple of quick things to check in Plex Media Server.log (and .1.log to .5.log):
Database Corruption. Look for any ERROR messages that mention the database is corrupt or malformed (search for those terms).
Notify messages. Do you have a lot of music or pictures in Plex? Look for Notify messages that mention “out of space.” If you see this, the drive is not full. Just that a Linux limit has been exceeded.
It now seems obvious that the DB is corrupted. I updated the PMS (it was on an earlier 2023 version,) reset the NAS, then deleted the Movies library altogether and recreated it. I was happy to see that finally all my movies re populated – but then I noticed that two other libraries were now showing as empty (including TV shows).
I deleted the TV shows library and re created it – the TV shows re populated, but then the Movies library was once again empty.
BTW-- this is all on Plex Web.
