Libraries stop being available

I’ve been running Plex since 2018, always on this Windows machine. Last Thursday, my content was suddenly unavailable on the LAN and also remotely while running v1.41.4.9463. I used Teamviewer to access the machine and Plex was not running. I rebooted the computer, Plex started, and all was fine. This repeated Sunday. And again today.

I installed 1.41.5.9522 a few days as a start to troubleshooting. Beyond that, it seems like the machine lost all contact with the libraries (they’re shares on two unRAID servers), but not the world, since I could login via Teamviewer. I can see a random error causing loss of contact with one library, but to both at the same time is strange.

I have logs and would appreciate where to start looking within them.

Any ideas?

The logs should show if/how the server was triggered to shutdown (even if it was induced by the host, e.g. if the machine crashed/rebooted).
Starting point could be to look for any lines related to that shutdown/ termination.
Beyond that, it’s always worth looking for ERROR - or CRITICAL - labels in the logs.

Question, do you have any “managed” users? Are they able to access the server? I have something similar going on, where myself, the owner can’t access squat. The server doesn’t even show under settings for me anymore, but for whatever reason, my home/managed users still have access.

Just more breakage by the geniuses working at plex, I’m assuming.

I’m searching in Plex Media Server.log and shutdown, termination, and critical had zero results. Error returned three: DEBUG - NotificationStream: Removing because of error

Only one, and she hasn’t logged on for a while.

Try searching on “Shutting down” and “signal” as well. If you find either, look at the surrounding context. Sometimes external processes can signal Plex Media Server to stop.

I appreciate the reply, but those terms returned no results.

If it happens again, start the server wait 5 minutes and then get a copy of your server logs. Then post the logs with a note of what time the crash happened.

This is the issue I am having, and I tried a reinstall, and disassociating the “Plex Media Server”, in “Authorised Devices”, but now it won’t join back in!!!

It took a while, but the server crashed this evening.

Please disable VERBOSE logging, unless asked for verbose NEVER enable it. Please also READ the server log article. We need the entire zip file not some random export of your logs.
