Library 'A-Z index' not working for music library

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.31.2 in Chrome Version 81.0.4044.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

NOTE: I’m just using ‘L’ as a placeholder/example for whatever letter I choose.

When I view a music library with ‘All’ ‘Albums’ ‘By Album Artist’ and select ‘L’ from the A-Z list down the right side of the album cover list, I am jumped to the middle of the artists with names that start with ‘B’. If I then go down several pages to where the ‘L’ artists are shown and try again, I go right back to the 'B’s.

Some music libraries land closer than others. For example one library puts the first ‘L’ on the LAST row of the screen, while another puts the first ‘L’ at the end of the FIRST row on the screen. I understand such adjustments near a boundary, but not in the middle of the list. The result should be consistent and should definitely include the letter I selected, or the nearest substitute of there are no entries with the selected letter. (Though I think the letter won’t be shown in that case, but they may have changed, too.)

Reversing the sort direction has an interesting effect: Instead of landing in the 'B’s, I land in the 'T’s. That happens to be the same distance (on the scroll bar displayed) from the top of the list.

If there’s anything I can try, or any sort of maintenance that must be manually performed on the server in order to have Plex be able do this correctly, please let me know.

Hi @nurbles

Did you find a resolution for this? I am having the exact same issue. I click on ‘D’ and it jumps to the middle of the Bs.

A little frustrating.

I and a friend are having the same issue. It seems nobody uses that feature or perhaps there would have been more comment. For my PC Plex, It seems search is the answer until it’s fixed.

Sorry, I didn’t see these replies until today, after updating PMS to Version 1.19.3.2843. When I saw them, I went to check the indexes that weren’t working and they seem to be working fine again.

So I have no idea if the Plex folks fixed it, or if my system just finally got around to building a correct index of sort sort.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
My indexing is also working as expected now. I vote they did a fix.
Thank you.
