Server Version#: 4.87.2
Player Version#: Chrome Latest
Server no longer honors Library access for users.
Example: I have a Guest account, I removed all library rights and that user can still access ALL libraries.
This seems to be very broken, not sure when this happened, but with in the past few release I believe. It would be very nice to add this back in as it stands right now it is completely broken.
Is the user (or the device you have tested this on) located in the same local network as the server?
And if so, did you put anything into “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” (in Settings - Server - ‘Show Advanced’ - Network )?
So yes, all devices are on the same subnet and local network. Yes I have the local subnet as not needing autho. and all devices are Fire Tv’s.
This issue is this all worked since it’s been available and only recently stopped working. I have three users, guest and an admin user and a regular user. These users all have (should have) independent access. That is what is broken, as I mentioned this all worked correctly prior to the last (or there abouts) server update.
The admin user needs a pin and the rest do not. In the user setup there is a definition for what libraries are allowed or not. This is what does not work any longer, but use to and the configuration has not changed.
Because it isn’t. If you tell your server to not enforce authentication on your whole local network, then everyone in your house can get full access to your server, simply by logging the client out of the plex account.
You need to fix this overly permissive configuration first.
I guess your not understanding that what I am describing here was already working for a very long time and only after a server upgrade did it stop working. Nothing else was change on the server as far as user access goes, or anything else for that matter.
So we need to get past the statement of that isn’t going to work. It already was working and now it is not.
Thank you for your reply’s. I am not trying to argue with you. Just trying to find a resolution or get Plex to fix this issue. Thanks.
