Hello
With the recent update of ios app the view of albums under one artist in artist view does only scroll horizontally in one line. It becomes unusable for artists with many albums.
Previously all albums were listed in a matrix that could be scrolled down vertically.
Please switch back to previous scroling view.
Thanks
Christian
You can click on the “Albums” header of that section – that’ll show only the albums.
With the additional information on the artist homepage , wrapping that album list would make it super confusing.
Interestingly that (clicking on the header) only works for Albums and Related Artists – not Extras.
I was about to make the same comment as above, good that I took a quick look in recents.
Who the hell thought this would be good UX? Absolutely horrible, a phone is not a widescreen TV where you have horizontal space. Tap on that “Album” header you say, well thx, but how would anybody now this is a button and why do I have to perform an extra step to see the most essential thing about a music artist - their albums? Please reconsider this or make it an option, it’s annoying!
Just wrap everything, then it’s not confusing.
Not even consistent, smh.
The other changes look really clean though, I like it! Somehow especially the big yellow play button (which you can recognize as a button)
Off-topic: Why is the record label in an album view called studio?
Agreed, I noticed this same issue with the latest update and it bothers me badly as well. Another note about it - on the default horizontal scroll on the artists page underneath the album it shows: Artist, Album Title as the available text information, which is unhelpful since we’re already on the Artist’s page, we know them.
When you click on that hidden “Albums” link and it shows the grid of albums, it shows: Album Title, Year of Release which is a much cleaner, and more informative display.
I do feel the same about the horizontal album list.
The main issue for me is that I know my music. Instead of recommending me other artists from my library (Again, I know those! I bought that music!), Plex should rather make it as effortless as possible to get to exactly the music I want to listen to.
Besides, clicking the non-button to reveal all albums is pretty annoying since the Plex app is already often unresponsive when browsing my library (of about 30 GB of music). It is impossible to quickly navigate to something.
Yeah, I agree with you, that was my comment on a different thread. It seems that Plex doesn’t know its own customer base, since we tend to be geeks who like to curate and organize our own libraries of media and we get satisfaction about being able to browse our media easily and fluidly. We don’t need Plex treating as uninitiated noobs who they have to help discover media.
Of course, they are free to go down that path, but I’d have to believe that those kind of people won’t be setting up Plex servers and curating media collections in the first place.
Yes, I’m also finding this update extremely annoying for artists with a large number of albums. I’m using the Android version of the Plex app.
I can’t seem to get the display of albums that others have mentioned by clicking “Albums” on the artist page. Can anyone else confirm this is not a feature in the Android version? Or am I clicking in the wrong location?
It’s badly designed and then it also has inconsistencies across platforms… What a mess.
I too am on Android and can confirm that this experience is nothing but horrible. In my case I use Plex for audiobooks which makes it especially crap if you have the same books in different Languages. My mother tongue and English.
Please revert this change. It’s unintuitive, annoying and just overall super bad design.
Album headers and just headers in General aren’t working at all in the most current version of the Android app. This horizontal content view is unintuitive cumbersome it makes browsing personal content extremely difficult
Also teested on Android/ Amazon Kindle Fire. Click on Album header does not work.
In addition it does not work to swipe from one album to the next when in album detail view.
Before you could swipe left or right to get to the next album.
