Is there a way to edit this list from my server? I’m currently migrating files to a new location and I will have to edit all of these paths. Doing it through the WebUI is a pain, so I was hoping these are kept in some text document that can be edited.
Theoretically, you can change the library folders in the database – but if messed up, that can wreck your server for good.
Using the web app might be cumbersome but works.
Yeah I don’t want to edit the database directly…dragons lie on that path. I was hoping there was some config file stored in the jail running Plex. Oh well, thanks for the insight.
I am in the process of streamlining my directory structure. Way back when I built my Truenas server I had my media libraries separated into their own datasets. But now I’m moving them all into one Media/ dataset.
As to this, yes, I believe I do. The last time I tried just pointing to the root Television/ folder, plex imported all of the files individually. It didn’t group them by show at all. Now maybe I don’t need the network/ directory, but I prefer that as a way to keep my media organized.
But does having a network directory mess up how Plex parses my library? Instead of having to add /media/Television/adult_swim to my TV Shows library, can I just add /media/Television and it will parse everything correctly? Or do I have to move all of my show directories out of their network parent directories and into the Television/ directory? If that’s the case then this makes things much easier on me.
This, and they still have to follow our naming guide!
But you must add the /media/Television path to the library first, before the move
And after the move, refresh your library, followed by deleting the old no longer used paths from the library
If you fear this, you could create a /media/tv directory, add that path to your lib, and then move your shows to that one by one.
When checking if it works, as in a refresh of your library, you’ll see that the episodes will most likely be listed twice, both new and old path, and old will say unavail
Simply empty the trash for the library to fix that
Ah OK, I figured as much. Thanks for the insight. But I prefer keeping my files organized under Television/<network>/<show> . It’s really not the biggest hassle in the world.
