Library not finding more files than what already is registered in DB

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: Irrelivant

One of my libraries is unable to add more content to it. I have tried to add the show folder specifically to the library even though it is already encompassed within the shows parent folder, changed the file name through a few file naming styles but have yet to be successful.

Testing the show in a new library finds the show fine however… but I dont want to have multiple librarys for that…

Library shows 766 series and 1876 episodes currently.

Total Directories of ALL Libraries = 1461 Directories
Total Files of ALL Libraries = 9437 Files

Is there a hard limit to library sizes?

There is no limit to the number of files or directories.

I have some 7500 episodes in total over 138 series.

The issue usually comes down to:

  1. Did you name the media properly before putting it where PLex monitors? (If not, a ‘Plex Dance’ will be required to make it be seen as if new
  2. Are the permissions such that Plex can read them? (Linux is very strict on permissions).

Your logs will show any permissions issues. (Error 13: Permission Denied)

1: Possibly named after moving in… and what is this ‘Plex Dance’?
2: Permissions are 775 on all directories and files associated with Plex Media. Logs show no permission issues.

The “Plex Dance” (trademarked by “OttoKerner” (a ninja) haha)

  1. Move files away from where they are monitored (a temp directory)
  2. Scan files
  3. Empty Trash
  4. Clean bundles. (allow this to finish… it might take time)
  5. Move files back into position
  6. Scan files again if not automatically detected

Dance did not work. also, when doing the dance… I had the files deleted from library folder according to Nautilus file manager and ls confirmed it too, but even after scanning, taking out trash and scrubbing bundles, plex still sees folders there when I view library in folder view. but no files within them…

If anything is mounted under /media and is automounted by Nautilus, Nautilus is the root cause. Permissions all will be ok but Nautilus will have mounted with your username as exclusive access. This why you see the top level only.

Had to run out to work, got called in so this help will need to pause, I will check when I return
