Hi guys,

I’ve got an issue that I need to resolve. Recently one of my hard drives died and I’m in the process of trying to get the data back. In the meantime I’m still using another drive which makes up part of my Plex library. I’m still hoping to add specific TV shows and films to it before I get the data that was on the other drive restored.

My question is as follows - Is there a way to micromanage my server in such a way that it can rescan the library without deleting the stuff that it doesn’t find? I want it to keep the entries for them while adding new content. Doesn’t seem like there’s a way to do this at the moment or maybe I’m missing something obvious?

Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’ <-- DISABLE
Make sure that you don’t empty the trash manually.

Although your missing movies will get the trash can icon, they won’t get removed completely from the library.
Once you have restored the files, all you need to do is another library update and the trash can icons are removed.
