Library unavailble one IOS app, but not on PlexWeb

Hello,

I have a strange issue that occurred overnight. I have one library that is accessible on PlexWeb but when I try to access it on the IOS app, it says the plex server isnt available. Every other library is fine. Everything else works like usual

I have rescanned the entire library, cleaned metadata etc. It is a library that records OTA tv shows.

Any ideas?

Same issue with me, though the problem extends to Roku and PlexWeb.

Yep - basically exactly it. I am using HD home run as well and I am on the latest update using the more frequent update channel.

I guess its a bug… Will try other things but probably out of my hands at this point.

Have to see if I can downgrade.

Anyone know when the next beta release is coming out?

Plex doesn’t post release dates, beta or otherwise.

Did the downgrade and no go. Removed new version and got public realease installed but that library still inaccessible from iOS.

Must be in a configuration file that doesn’t get removed when uninstalling.

Just updating.

Same issue with Samsung Smart TV app. Also noted the indicator for unwatched episodes was including the number of occurrences of the show in the guide. If I had one new recording, but there were 10 additional episodes in the guide, the indicator would display 11.

Someone glitched the code and it may have created an issue with specific players.

Hope they see this thread and fix it soon.

After you downgrade you need to force plex to reload the library. One way to do this is to change the folder for the library to something temporarily and then to change it back. That will force plex to reload all the files in the folder. As soon as this starts happening you should be able to see the folder again. You need to downgrade from 1.13.9 if you want the fix to stick. Otherwise, in my experience, it will return in a few hours.

Thanks.

I actually partially used your idea. Didn’t downgrade again.

Just deleted library and recreated it with a different name. All ok now.

Just in case someone else had the issue.

Didn’t seem to have any data loss to media. Just lost watched unwatched status etc.

EDIT. It didn’t lose watch unwatch. All seems maintained. I guess it maintains that info on the file level in the dB which makes sense.

I did the same thing but in my experience the problem kept coming back until I downgraded. Maybe you will have different results. Best of luck.

Sorry you said that. I will update this ticket and see what happens.

How long did it take to revert back for you?

Initially it seemed to last a day or two. By the time I rolled back it was reverting back about every ~6 hours. Don’t know what controls the length of time. My suspicion it has to do with how frequently the folder is updated (e.g. the frequency of new programs being added to the folder).

Thanks. Appreciate the info.

Let’s see what happens. I’ll report back.

I believe the only difference between you and I is I deleted the library and created as a different name.

We’ll see. Thanks again

The library stayed overnight. Will update as time goes by.

The library is still good.

The issue I am having now but it could be unrelated is that every night the plex application is crashing and I have to re-execute it in the morning.

It could be due to backups though as I had an issue with vss and that could be causing it.

I will know more tonight after backup finishes and back to normal.

Updating. Now I’m at the point where the library is always accessible but nothing records and the plex application crashes between 2 and 3am.

Finally going to downgrade today to latest public release and delete the library and all it’s contents and start another one.

Downgraded to 1.13.8.5395 and deleted the recording library and created a new one with a new name and reimported all the existing recordings. Testing a record now and will see what happens overnight.

This has been referred to the development team. The 1.13.9 issue appears to relate to recorded shows

Thank you.

1.13.9 beta has now been superseded by 1.13.9.5456 which should fix the issue of failure to load TV Shows libraries with recorded media and also episode and watched counts

  • Fix for recorded TV libraries failing to load on iOS. (#9227)
    (and tvOS and Roku)
