Just updated plex server to the same version and ALL my client devices are seeing server offline also.

The only way I can cast is via stream from Chrome on the server.

How does this update not get pulled?

My theory is that there was a bug that Apple and google App Store found prevented the updated app from entering the public domain. The guy at Plex who’s responsible to receive these rejection emails decided to VACATE early, enjoying his life, maybe playing let’s build a sand castle with his feet, while my PLEX gear is Down until the updated clients match the server build.

Same thing on my end.

I have an NVIDIA Shield TV, Fire TV and Web.

I have an empty dashboard on the Shield TV with 7.1.7.0.10904, but there are no issues with FireTV and Web.

I thought it was my server and wiped it out in attempts to fix it :frowning:

> **SOLUTION: ROLLBACK TO 1.15.8.1198-1-01**

This is what I did to create a Backup and RollBack to binhex/arch-plex:1.15.8.1198-1-01 and turned off/stopped the main limetech/plex: 1.16.0.1226-1-01 till the apps gets fixed in the app stores on APPLE, Google, PLEX’s END. Everything is business as usual after resetting Cache data on the client side.

It is a pain in the rear end to reconfigure everything and for a collection in the thousands to rebuild all those unplayed/unwatched tags, the time spent to fix some metadata thumbnails, and organizing into collections and playlists is a headache. Unraid Docker really makes this easy in relation to a VM Server to stop and turned off auto start on my main limetech/plex: 1.16.0.1226-1-01 Docker image. Unfortunately limetech repro does not have an previous version TAG to use to rollback, it’s always pushed to the latest version.

I then went to COMMUNITY APPS and installed a new repository binhex/arch-plex:1.15.8.1198-1-01 and Named it PLEX-BACKUP

with the same ip and media folder configuration settings because the port fwd’ing didn’t change for remote access. I spent maybe 10 minutes reconfiguring the movie and TV show Library’s and now it has to meta sync all the data eta a few hours vs. a few days/weeks waiting for the PLEX admin to come back from Vacation, and I honestly do not care much at all, reconstructing everything, just wanted to get the Basics. up and running, to get by. I Also had to fix and enable the library’s I share with Family members and enable/test the remote access.

It took a while to understand what they were talking about in this old post

I’ll throw my issue in here, because I believe it’s related to the update.

Post; Unwatched Marks Are Not Appearing On The Nvidia Shield or FireTV (Update; Fixed)

Basically after updating to 1.16.0.1226, the Nvidia Shield and FireTV Plex Apps aren’t displaying the Unwatched Mark for any files.

FIX: Update 1.16.0.1226 was causing the problem, I rolled the server back to the previous Version 1.15.8.1198 everything is working fine now.

Dear PLEX: whats the sollution here?? I cant use any of my devices to connect to a plex server.

Glad I came across this. was getting ready to post about these same issues. Android constantly either “offline” won’t update whats new etc. clear cache , force stop reinstall etc sometimes helps. Works on the web , firestick no issues streaming to these devices. Just my phone. Issues with database keeping track of whats finished playing or I mark it played and pops back up half played etc. What a mess. Never had these kind of issues before en mass. Running on Windows 10. Android and server on latest versions.
7.17.0.10904 cdcb9f75
Version 1.16.0.1226
If I were riding the free wave I wouldn’t feel I had as much room to complain but I did buy the pass so hey PLEX. Fix it now please.

I’ve had issues with both my Nvidia Sheild’s, empty dashboards etc, after updating to 7.17.0 so I’ve rolled back to 7.16.1, everything is back to working normally. PMS is running on 1.16.0.1226 on a Synology nas.

Just curious why everyone pulls the trigger on these releases that are often buggy. I don’t really upgrade unless I have to, and then if I do I snapshot before as I run Plex in a VM - best and easiest way to roll back in case there are problems, and I’ll just say that 50% of the time I do the upgrade there is some kind of issue that I need to roll back.

It would be nice, that within the dashboard, where it tells you there is a new version, it would provide a link to what is new in that version, what’s been fixed, what is known to be broken, directly so I don’t have to search of this info.

Hope you guys can roll back and fix your issues.

Honestly, to get rid of the Yellow/Gold annoying banner at the top.

Looks like we have to wait for v1.161 to become public available.

Mine auto updated from repo. Haven’t had any issues, which is kind of interesting. Is everyone having issues running docker?

I am not having any issues with the server update version 1.16 or the Web UI. What we are having issues with is the Android and iOS app not communicating to the new server version. All created media libraries show offline in both app versions. I went back to 1.15 and the apps communicate to the server version just fine.

Its a possibility that the relation could be docker image related however there is something definitely wrong that we cannot fix.

Hi. I don’t know for sure if my problem is exactly the same as what’s being reported here, but I was having issues with either the server as a whole not showing up (only podcasts) or I could still get to the movies, tv shows, etc., but the Continue Watching, On Deck, etc. was not showing on the Android TV app, and was showing as Offline on the Android mobile app.

Anyway, for my specific problem, the solution seems to be to turn off automatic login. When I turned it off, all my content shows every time after logging in. Only when I have autologin enabled, does it have issues.

I can confirm that turning off auto sign-in fixes the missing libraries. On Android TV and on my phone

Is this " auto sign-in" a Server setting? or individual app setting?

The only thing I see that I have enabled for auto signed in

Individual app settings

How interesting, there is a, new to me, Security Feature for the Admin Home user (Encryption Lock). Does This account have to be pin? yes if you want the “Automatically Sign In/off” slider available for the app.

I did test that plus reset cache, restart server, restart iOS device, I have also deleted Library and re-added it. I still get the same message on my app and all media library(s) in server version 1.16.0.1226-1-01

I did some more tests, TV Shows, Music, Other Videos Library’s new and existing have connection to the server, . It’ just any “Movie” Library new or existing does not have a connection to the server. So this is not an issue with the app. Its a problem with the server version.

PERMANENT SOLUTION (FIXED)
I found the Solution in another post and thought lets give it a try. I discovered that the update 1.16.0.1226 found a corrupted Media Library Database file

com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

that it could not process.

I followed the Windows CMD Prompt instruction on this site, note: the “Path Environment” is not a necessary step.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/?_ga=2.41651426.1167588007.1561770626-2029640242.1561604728

UNRAID DOCKER File Path
\\TOWER\appdata\PlexMediaServer\Library\Application Support\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Database

I then copied "stopped the docker image copied the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file to the C:\sqlite-tools-win32-x86-3280000 folder and ran the command line Run a Repair steps 2-6 in the link above. I checked first of course, however I had to delete the file and re-copy over.
