Guys
Sorry to post and ask what appears a common issue, but I am struggling to get the error sorted.
I moved two RAID arrays containing media from one file server to a dedicated plex server, and restored the plexdata folder on the new server from what was a separate (medialess) windows plex PC…
On the old server, the plex pc used UNC shares to access the media, but now the drives are all local - not that it should matter.
Problem appeared when I go into the libraries, and change the path to the files. I obviously want to preserve all the database entries - the thought of fixing loads of entities for obscure stuff fills me with dread!
On the old server, they were UNC shares, but now the drives are all local - not that it should matter.
Now - on the new dedicated plex server - with the trwo media arrays, when I change the paths in edit library to point to the local media folders instead of what was the UNC share names SOME of the libraries return the “your changes cannot be shared” error.
I can create new libraries without error within the same folder structure.
The plex account is owner and full permissions within the Plexdata folder tree - and has read only visibility to all the media folders.
I dont have spaces in the library name, nor in the folder structure (as was hinted at in previous fixes). The language is correctly set as english as it was before.
For the libraries that work, I can play media without problem.
Any ideas that will preserve my existing metadata are very much welcome!
Thanks in advance
David
