Can't add new directories to existing libraries -- "Your changes could not be saved."

OS: Windows 10
Running Windows firewall with Plex on the whitelist.
Plex Server Version#:4.49.2 (though this issue predates this server version)

Trying to add directories on a new external hard drive to my existing libraries (which happen to be on a different external hard drive). I can add the path for a new directory to my Movies and TV libraries, but when I click Save to save the new directory path, I get the “Your changes could not be saved.” error.

Looking at the logs, there seems to be agent not found and language not found errors.

Logs attached. Any idea of how to fix this?

I’m having the same problem. Each time I click “Save Changes” it spins for 30 seconds and then says “Your changes could not be saved.”

The problem seems to be that Media Server is timing out repeatedly. I simply kept retrying, and after about the fourth time it worked.

I consider this a bug.

I am having the same problem.

Current Plex version Version 1.21.4.4079-1b7748a7b

Trying to add a folder on a NAS - “Your changes could not be saved.”
Tried to add new directory on the same internal drive that the other libraries are on - “Your changes could not be saved.”
Followed the instructions to rebuild the data bases - repeated the above and still “Your changes could not be saved.”

Rebooted the Plex server (Windows Box) - same problem

Turned off IPV 6 - same problem

Cleaned out the temp folder for the user that logs into and runs the Plex server - same issue

Tried Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Safari - same issue

Tried Chrome and Edge (new Edge) on the Plex server its self - same issue

Checked the rights to the folder - no issues - same issue

Tried it from the app instead of a browser - same issue

Tried removing the current folder and then added the new folder - same issue

I use Windows Security for Anti-Virus - turned off real-time protection - same issue

Turned off UAC - same issue

At this point I believe I have tried everything, but no joy on adding a folder. My goal is actually to move data to a NAS for more storage, but that is on hold due to all of the above. I am confident the NAS is fine, and since I cannot even add a folder that is on the same drive I think the technical term here is… Plex server is busted!

HELP!!

There should be some sort of tutorial from official Plex sources regarding this issue. Given the number of people I see reporting this issue, it deserves to be in an article on the Plex site. I had the same issue and was able to fix it by optimizing the database. However, I realize that this happens for different reasons so there will be different solutions depending on what’s causing the problem. This is why there should be an article listing the different possible solutions being documented.
