Lifetime Plex Pass Offered For A Limited Time, What?

I just watched the new uploaded video on the Plex YouTube channel, nice job. I am a bit confused about the subscription choices. It says that the “Lifetime Plex Pass Subscription” is being offered for a limited time only. What is that all about?

Is the “Lifetime Plex Pass” being discontinued? What does that mean for currant Lifetime Plex Pass holders, are we “grandfathered in” to any changes that are going to take place with what a “Lifetime” subscription means?

One of the best decisions I ever made in life was becoming a Plex Pass member, it’s benefits are growing all the time and I love being part of the special group that gets to try every new feature and basic improvement before non members. Any information would be appreciated.

Plex has always said, or at least implied, that lifetime passes may cease to be sold at any time. Of course that could be the same thing as the O’Riley’s furniture and electronics store down the street and their perpetual “Going out of business” sale of which it is said “If I weren’t going out of business I could not stay in business.”

Edit: Plex has also said that anyone with a “Lifetime” pass will continue with that pass.

Shhh - Be quiet, I am poor and trying to set aside the cash to buy my lifetime pass. Hang on a little longer for me - because from where I sit I would pay twice especially with the 2016 improvements

Gone are the days of bartering with businesses…

When is the lifetime pass ending?

At the end of your life, thus: lifetime.

Please forgive, I j/k. [-O<

What 2016 improvements?

There have been improvements in 2016? All I see is fluff and nothing of substance.

Actually in 2016 the Roku channel has improved and so has PMP. Now when those were introduced it is clear they were a dramatic step backward but that took place in 2015.

The step back was so large that it will take years at the current rate to return to the point where the backward step was taken but to say there have been no improvements in 2016 is simply mistaken.

Somehow it almost seems like Plex is practicing the dark arts and they first killed the old apps/channels and the performed a ritual to reanimate them. But that resulted in a Plex “zombie” and although functional it behaves as a “brain dead” or “soulless” version of its previous self.

Roku did get lots of improvement, but PMP hasn’t seen updates in a while, is still very slow, still freezes (osx), UI is still not what people want although we were promised changes and probably skins.

Android updates are mostly a continuous stream of fixes of or bugs introduced in previous updates. Playlist syncing still hasn’t been implemented, but that was promised early last year when it was introduced in ios.

Plex media server still doesn’t have outgoing bandwidth settings. Internet outages are still a problem.

Honestly, some nice things happened in 2015, but in the 2nd half of last year and the first month’s of 2016 nothing good happened outside of roku’s custom player (no use to me).

I’m not holding my breath for more at thus point, I’m using Plex as is and hoping for something else to take its place. Emby still needs work on clients.

December I posted a thread about something I saw in the Web App regarding Network speed limits. I was told then that seeing this was a mistake, that it shouldn’t have been included in that update. (You can see the post here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/199774/0-9-15-0-uhm-guys-see-if-you-see-what-i-see)

Well guess what, folks. Here we are almost 1/3 of the year through and haven’t seen this feature brought out yet. Yeah, not holding my breath on it, honestly… It’s going to be like the security fix that took forever to get implemented. Most of us had already somewhat safeguarded our systems against that particular exploit before Plex provided the fix… :frowning:

We have been told to expect great things in 2016. And nothing really great has shown up yet.

If that hurts the Team to hear… Reality sucks. Now is the time to do something about it. Now is the time to look at the Feature Requests and get some of them knocked out… Notice the numbers of long time users we don’t see around anymore? I do… Where do you think they are all going? Taking the summer off? OK, it’s your sandbox, but a lot of us have paid to play in it. When do we start seeing the features we are REQUESTING take a priority to fluff???

I feel like you always express the stuff that makes me angry in a perfectly worded and organized way. Thank you.

As in I piss you off saying it, or the things that piss you off are the same things that I’m already pissed off about? (It could be read either way!)

2nd option of course

@MikeG6.5 But didn,t you see?! As of the new PMP preview release you can flag a show watched/unwatched by hitting the ‘W’ key!

And if you don’t use a keyboard, there is no default keymap for remotes!

I will agree with much of the poo-pooing of recent PMS features as things nobody asked for seemingly at the expense of things that HAVE been asked for (please give us a few vertical releases instead of continued horizontal ones. Breadth of features is fun, but not if you aren’t deep at the ones that count.).

That said, i will take a step back and say that Roku is CLEARLY in a vastly better place than it was, and the new channel is light-years ahead of the ugly old “default ROKU UI” thing. So it’s not all doom & gloom.

Who doesn’t love lyrics?

Plex Karaoke party anyone?

Ironically, I think Kodi recently discontinued their Karaoke feature in the v16 release
