I just started to use plex, I am interested in the "Lifetime Plex Pass", do you know anyway to get a discount to the lifetime license? is there any special day coming that will bring the price down? anyway to get a reduction in the price? is there any sales email for the plex staff?
I have been using plex for a while now and I was very sad that they upped the price of the subscription price for the lifetime membership. Â I am in your boat as well. Â I am waiting for it to return to the original price. Â Only time will tell if they go back to the original pay model.
I somewhat agree, but if I were to pay for everyone in my family, that would be $600 or more dollars. I can buy the phone apps and they work fine, but Xbox and Roku need a Plex Pass or it says "The trial has run out" or something to that effect. I'm trying to figure that out now. I thought the server user needed that, then others didn't need it, but on my daughters Roku and Xbox, it's showing expired.
I know I can use my account for her, but would rather she use her own.
The lifetime pay is very expensive; I don´t understand why some apps don´t need plex pass (Samsung Smart TVs and Plex Media Theater for example), others simply need to buy the app (like iOS App) and the rest need it (PS3, PS4, Xbox, Roku, Vizio,......).

Plex Media Server, Plex Home Theater, and the Plex/web interface are free
The Samsung app you refer to is a project created by a user here in the forums and is NOT maintained by Plex Inc and the user distributes it for free through the Samsung Store.
The apps; Android, iOS, Roku and so on are paid for apps (one time fee)
With a plexpass subscription you get access to apps that are in pre-view mode (not released for sale yet) such as the Xbox, PS4, and the smart TV apps.
Further with a plexpass subscription you get access to the Android, Roku, and Xbox, PS4 apps for free as part of the subscription package.

As I said in post #6.
Apps that require plex pass and are not yet available for a one-off fee, are not finished yet.
Plex Pass not only makes available some special features, it also grants access to stuff that is still in the making.
So us geeks can already play with it before it hits the normal people.
Do not make a decision to buy a plex pass just because you want a plex client on e.g. the Playstation. You'll probably be in for a disappointment, because it is not finished, not even feature-complete.
On the other hand, if you are a computer enthusiast, who has fun finding bugs and wants to help development and maybe even learn something along the way - then go for it.
But you might wanna try a monthly subscription first...
There always seems to be those that complain about a "lifetime" fee.
Let's put this into perspective
You pay for one device, that one device has access for 4.99
You pay a ONE TIME fee of 149, all devices and new platforms in the future are yours, for free, forever.Â
Yeah I don't see the problem with the price especially given that Plex is one of the leading home media software out there and has one of the best development teams in that market.
I couldn’t agree more scott.j.williams. I became a member last September, just before the price increase. I think the price was around $75.00. The amount of time and effort that the developers put into improving their product is well worth the lifetime price, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Plex Pass at it’s current rate.
You need to explore every single option to appreciate what Plex is really doing for you. I discover new ways to use it all the time, it is customizable in every way. The support that they give in these forums is as professional as it gets. They always speak at a level that everyone could understand, they have respect and never belittle anybody, no matter how rudimental their issue is. I feel like we are a family.
Plex offers so much of their products “functionality” for free, the extras you get by owning a Plex Pass makes it even better. What you get for free is top notch, and when you add that shiny Plex Pass it really, really drives it home.
I can barely afford the 75 USD, let alone the 150! I think 150 for a piece of software is too much. I’d gladly pay 75 because I know i’d use it a lot… Hopefully they’ll have a slash sale for just 1 day. Just 1 day! That’s all I need! haha. Otherwise, I’m fine using the web version. I bought the LG version from another developer, it gives me access to the important stuff even though it’s not the greatest UI. Oh well…
Please Plex, just 1 day! 75 dollars for lifetime version!
Well some might say the lifetime license is expensive, but I say this: Plex is friggin awesome. Every single person on this forum surely must agree. I’m going to put my money where my mouth is just to support the developers of this software and all the amazing things they’ve given us. I feel it’s the right thing to do. I don’t even use all these other apps, but maybe one day I will. Either way, the worst thing that could happen is that Plex would disappear, so paying for a lifetime subscription is all I can do to make sure that will never happen. Support good developers! And long live Plex.
Only the server login needs to be a Plex Pass to get all the features, even for non Plex pass family accounts.
For what the devs have accomplished, the $150 is well worth the money and I would easily pay for twice that.
If you can’t afford it, save your money over time or opt for the monthly plan. Take note that the lifetime Plex pass would pay for itself (over monthly) in less than 3 years. I am currently over 2 years using Plex nearly every day! Heck I think I’ll go shop around in the swag store now. https://stores.kotisdesign.com/plex
The only way to get a discount would be to invent a time machine and go back to before they changed the price of the PlexPass. PlexPass is totally worth every penny. The price is so cheap compared to the support and features and access you get. But again as others have stated there is no way to get a discounted price and i am surprised how cheap it is given the content you get in return.
