Limit on music tracks

I was wondering if there is a limit on how many music tracks can one add to Plex before it crashes.

My track count is currently at 37,000
I know of ppl with larger libraries.
It also depends on what hardware resources your server has and how well organized your files are. A single folder with several thousand files thrown in won’t do.

I’d rather not try to have a big library on inadequate hardware, like a weak NAS or a raspberry pi.

One downside of very large music libraries is that the folder with the cached album art becomes absolutely gigantic, easily over 40 GB. This folder is by default stored on your OS drive, so if you’ve got a not-so-big SSD that’s bad news.

There’s some hacks to get around it (symlink the cache folder to the data drive, make it read-only so it can’t write the files in the first place) but it’s annoying.

Ironically, iTunes (and many other music managers) which you’ll need to manage such a big library also builds a large cache folder with album art, so it’s easy to end up with tons of cache data filling up your OS drive.

I have about 100k and it works fine but I was wondering will it be fine if I had million :astonished:
