Recently switched all my encodes going forward to H.265 and the current settings don’t allow me to limit streaming rate to non H.265 devices without negatively affecting the devices that do support it. More specifically if I limit the stream rate to 4Mbps (720p) per client, and my file is a 3800kbps H.265 1080p, my H.265 supported users are still only getting the file at 720p when in reality they are capable of direct play because they are still under the 4Mbps threshold. Now all my H.265 users are transcoding needlessly. Does that make sense?
Needs to be a general change, setting a plex client to 4mbps 720p shouldn’t make a 1080p that’s 2mbps transcode, that makes no sense.
