Linux server won't find WinTV-HVR-1955

Hi all, my plex media server box won’t find my new Hauppage usb tuner. It’s listed on the supported list and is connected to the server:

This is all I get:

Any ideas?

I am not running a Linux PMS and do not have a Hauppauge tuner so can’t offer much more than a couple of points. First, did you look at the note below the supported tuners list? It shows Linux support based on 16.04.2 LTS, from your screenshot it appears you are on 12.04.5 LTS. Second, did you look at the link in the note for Linux it takes you to a Hauppauge support page: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/linux.html.

The Hauppauge support page mentions the PPA drivers are supported on 16.04 Xenial with kernel 4.4.

Thanks for the response @johnm_ColaSC! I did notice that the Hauppauge driver ppa were only available for 16.04.02, but I also felt like my kernel recognized the device alright:

[16728228.248162] usb 1-7: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci
[16728228.385310] usb 1-7: New USB device found, idVendor=2040, idProduct=7510

I don’t have a 16.04 machine (can’t upgrade this server for a few reasons) to test with right now so I’ll probably have to return the device and cancel my plex-pass if there’s no other suggestions?

Can you build a VM with Ubuntu 16.04 to see if it works?

Thanks again @johnm_ColaSC – I’ve decided to return this device and give HDHomerun Connect a try instead.ed my

(Edit: Sorry I marked my own response as an answer to the question. I should’ve marked your response that the device is “unsupported” on anything other than 16.04 is likely the correct answer. Sorry!)
